I don't know why we don't eat like this more in the US - who says dinner has to be a "meal" when it can just be delicious food with great company?

I'm tidy, and on certain days of the week, I'm clean. But I have to agree with a couple of the other readers - there is definitely a difference between the two. I just don't have time to clean I tidy up before I go to work, I tidy up before I go to sleep. My son and husband are pretty tidy - but neither one is very clean. It's all about habits.

When my very good friend was pregnant about 4 years ago, she said if it was a boy, she was going to name him Kale. Luckily it was not, and she named her girl Leila. But I had a lot of misgivings (and I still do) about the name Kale. It's a leafy green... not a little boy.

Oh my goodness! I cannot get over how gorgeous this room is! I am head over heels for that wall color! And what a beautiful arrangement for two little ones. Well done! Definitely inspirational for those expecting a 2nd that'll share the older one's room (like me!). Thank you very much for sharing!

Lots of good ideas here! I outfitted my son from a thrift store for around $100 for the first year of his life. Most of the things I picked up were like-new or still had the tags on 'em. Until they're in school, thrift stores and Target clearance (with the occasional Osh Kosh sale thrown in) are a great money saver!

I definitely meal plan! I usually go through Pinterest on Saturdays and then plan for two weeks (since we get paid every two weeks!). It has REALLY helped me cut down on my grocery bill. It really is sort of amazing. And if I have any left over meat / veggies, I look for recipes with those incorporated so I don't waste anything. Sure, it's a chore - but when you're working with a $200 monthly food budget, you have to plan well! $200 includes everything - from lunch stuff to dinner stuff and everything in between. We also don't shop the big national chains, but I've fallen in love with Aldi and our local farmer's market. I can't tell you how great a lot of Aldi's food is - their spaghetti sauce (Priano Brand) is really good, their lunch meats are great, and they're my go to for milk & eggs.

My husband and I rent, for now - simply because we know we're going to be moving in the next couple of years and don't want a ball and chain. I DEFINITELY agree with the earlier comment made by seawhitney about the freedom of not needing to finance your own repairs, but I do understand the need to make a space completely you're own. I do think it depends on where you live - we're in northern Ohio, so it's cheaper to rent, but not by much. I think it has to do more with each family's preferences and what works best for them.

Well, um... this is great and I'm sure it wasn't easy - but $670 is more than half a paycheck for me. What's wrong with the $150 ones at Target / JcPenney? The kiddos are only in it for 2 years or so... so you don't really need it to last for years upon years...

This is a great article! I sit down and do my meal planning every two weeks. I try to do a lot of slow cooker meals because I get off of work at 6 and I do not feel like standing in the kitchen after that! I also love Paprika - great app! Also - meal planning keeps my grocery budget in check - I slashed my bills by almost half. Love it.
