After getting pine nut mouth for almost a month I will never touch another pine nut in my life. It was horrible. The worst punishment for a foodie.

Perfect Timing! We just bought our first file cabinet this past weekend. It was a local art supply store so they only had one two drawer in putty that I painted white. I'm thinking of papering the front, or spicing it up a little, but have not found the right paper.

I'm so happy! I've been waiting months for this!

My poor husband hasn't recovered from the Spring Cure! You have my sympathy Harlie! I have no idea how to get him onboard, except bribing him that I'll do everything but the heavy lifting and that I won't spend too much money! His creative input is nearly impossible to bribe out!

I think he is appreciative deep down inside, to live in a intentionally designed space that gets him many compliments from his friends!

This cure will focus on our library. I'll be taking out the multitude of computer desks (3!) and building a custom desk inside the room's closet!

Wish me luck!
Renee

The non-essentials are most essential in my bar!

After experimenting for a number of weeks with what I have in the garden (and the spice rack) I found a sublime combination.

The quantities of each are quite small, but a delicious tisane is brewed when you combine these herbs (fresh dried in the microwave)... mint, lemon balm, sweet woodruff, and stevia leaves, and from the spice rack, three mutilated cardamom pods, a few turns of fresh cracked pepper and a sliver of vanilla bean... just a tiny shard of it, you don't want it fighting with the sweet woodruff!

This combination is delicious and only gets better with steeping. My last glass was far tastier than the first. Also delicious with a drop of honey to bring out the woodruff.

I might be in the minority here but I kind of like the smell. Granted, if my apartment smelled like that all the time it would quickly fade. My husband complains though...

We use to make ice cream in coffee cans! A big one and a small one. Your soon to be ice cream ingredients went in the small can while your ice/salty goodness went in the larger. We children had to roll the darn thing around for what seemed like an eternity, but the ice cream was well worth the effort.

I want to replicate such a summer's afternoon in my life, but we don't buy coffee in cans like that!

My husband confessed to me last night that he was overwhelmed with all the changes. Next year I'll get him involved from the get-go. He's not AT material and I did not mention that AT was my inspiration for my spring cleaning/life upheaval. Poor guy. When I brought home paint samples last night he had a fit. "When is it going to end" he asked throwing up his hands. "2 weeks and 6 days" I told him. Just two more weeks! He has no idea what I'm talking about.

He told me he was getting anxious with all the changes and tired of seeing 'piles of stuff everywhere'.

To my credit its only the library that looks undone and contains piles of stuff. The living room, kitchen and dining room are spotless.

Anyone else having problems getting their Significant Others in the spirit? What did you do to get them to join in the fun, versus question your sanity?

He did end the conversation with the phrase "I really like what you've done to the place.. I really do." So I suppose it will all be worth it in the end.

I can't complain. Over the past two weekends as part of my Cure, I've worked really hard changing the things I use to hate about my rental kitchen. I sabotaged the mismatched stovetop hood so the landlord would replace it. I removed some cabinet doors to give myself a beautiful view of the clear glasses and white plates we were hiding before. It breaks up the monotony of the cabinets I had been itching to paint white.

The almond-colored fridge now has a beautiful floral wall decal on it, and its top is now home to a collection of vases and a new ikea lamp instead of a horrible collection of things I did not know where to put.

I hung new curtains and created a matching backslash (with the left over fabric and a glass picture frame from IKEA (can you tell where I went this past weekend?)

AND.. the best change of all, gained a foot and a half of counter space by insisting we store the dishrack under the cabinet when its not in use. A bowl of fruit and some indoor herbs look way nicer than that stinky rusty thing!

I walk into the kitchen and sigh because I love it so much, instead of walk into the kitchen and sigh because it is an ugly mess.

Sure, the floor is kind of dingy and tile is a strange pink shade, but its much better than when I started.

I'm curious where Mairead got her fridge decals.. They are beautiful! I just yanked all the artwork we had on the fridge because they were getting grungy and looked cluttered.

Those decals would be the perfect replacement, though I wonder if they have them in white.

I bought a large used book (on a subject I don't fancy) and cut space for them with an exacto knife.

Now if I could only find a way to get my husband to put them back!

Club Deluxe in San Francisco has a delicious Spa Collins on the menu with finely sliced cucumbers that become a tasty treat after your drink is done. I love to stop by and refresh when I'm in the Haight.

I'm fond of doing a non-alcoholic version with water (sparkling or still), ginger, cucumber, and mint if I have some on hand.

Perfection!
