@babyfishmouth I deal with this problem all the time. I really believe in buying meat where the animals have been treated humanely and I really try to buy local as well. However, I'm an assistant who barely makes more than minimum wage and I live in L.A....not the cheapest city. It's hard for me to turn away from the cheaper meat when the price difference can almost be my hourly wage. Smart Shopping: Find Cheaper Chicken at the Meat Counter |

If you combined most of these images together you would have my studio apartment. Art all over the walls in no particular order? Check. Deep orange, purple, red bedspreads sheets with various decorative pillows? Check. That EXACT leaning mirror? Check. Layered carpets? Check. Curtains over my bed? Check. @TexCausingAScene and @Redstarburst I am with you both. I think we're in the younger age demographic here (I'm 23) and maybe that has something to do with it. I was a notoriously bad cook when I started college - I couldn't even make grilled cheese. Ree's blog helped me take baby steps towards making actual meals and her pictures and humor made it fun to read and follow. I remember being so proud of myself when I made her lasagna and my friends gushed over how delicious it was. I had just turned 20. I am now learning how to make my own croissants through Julia Child and am making much more involved and complex recipes from other chefs and bloggers. I am of the camp that thinks Ree is a game changer - but not in the way that people would think. We all need to start somewhere and Ree's blog is a transition from clueless toast burner to actual cook. Figures in Food: Gourmet Live's 50 Women Game-Changers |

Has anyone else found that the GT Dave kombucha has been flat (not fizzy) each time they've bought it from Whole Foods lately? REALLY annoying. Make or Buy? Kombucha |

I made these and while they were DELICIOUS...they didn't rise too well. They remained about 1 inch thick...maybe rose a little more. I put in the baking powder as specified. Anyone have any ideas? Breakfast Recipe: Sweet Potato Biscuits & Maple Butter |

Look, while I can understand that the latter version comes off as a little shabby chic, and that doesn't appeal to many of you, I think we should lay off of her. She clearly loved her grandmother and wants to keep that chair in her home for years to come. It didn't particularly go with anything in her home before - so she modified it so that it could stay. I think that's lovely. My grandmother's favorite color was salmon pink. I can't STAND salmon pink. If I had a piece of furniture that was hers and was salmon pink I would have a really difficult time having it out in my home...despite how much I loved my grandma. I think one's personal aesthetic tastes are their own business and no one should mock them or make them feel bad about altering a chair etc. The chair is used and loved and her grandmother is remembered. That is what is important. Before & After: Grandma's Rocking Rocker Makeover |

The first time I went to Tahiti when I was a child I discovered passionfruits. Those were the only things I would eat for breakfast while I was there. My sister would have some pineapple and pancakes and I would have a yoghurt and 10 passionfruits. I am still obsessed. Do not be startled by the slimy insides...they are TREASURES.
