I bring a small lamp for illumination-- as an alternative to flourescent, or to help balance the light in the room.
Also, a plug in aroma diffuser and essential lavender or other calming essential oil.
I have found eyeshades-- made from a soft, plush fabric --invaluable for blocking the light positioned right over the patients pillow, and for blocking the lights the nurses turn on to monitor the patient.
I bring an ipad or iPod and headphones for music, also reading material . I also bring favorite hand lotions and other toiletries & massage oil.
For an extended stay, we bought a cushioned mattress pad to alleviate the hard bed.
I also bring fresh flowers.
Last but certainly not least, bring good healthy food . I can't believe the crap food that is served in hospitals for people that need to heal.

I bought and returned a Kwikset keyless lock just because the part that goes on the interior side of the door is so darn big and ugly. I just couldn't do it to our lovely 1920's original door and hinges. Be interested in knowing of any that would be less conspicuous on an old door. The functionality would be great if I can get past the looks.

When we installed a new tub, we sprayed "Great
Stuff" foam insulation to fill the cavity around the tub. You could also spray foam insulation on the surface of the underside of the tub.

Just looked up the Restore-A-Finish MSDS sheet. It contains ethyl benzene, a known carcinogen. Don't think I want that absorbed in my furniture. The Feed-n-Wax, however, is non-toxic.

I believe that the first photo, with the red box entryway, is from Christian Liaigre's home, somewhere in France. I think it's a fabulous, simple solution to a drafty entranceway.

I save my receipts in case I want to return something or get a refund for a shoddy product (not all that unusual.) I would like to scan my receipts for electronic storage , but most stores will only accept a return with the "original" receipt, i.e., the real thing. Any thoughts on making scanning work?
