I heart Amarone! Unfortunately I don't get to indulge as often as I'd like due to the steep price. Amarone: One of Italy’s Greatest Symbolic Wines |

Kettle One for martinis and Tito's for when I am including a mixer. I swear it's the best inexpensive vodka on the market. Dripping Springs is awful. And when I'm feeling really dirty I'll pick up a bottle of Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and mix it with lemonade (aka Tipsy Arnold Palmer or John Daily)... just be careful, you don't realize how quickly it goes down in the hot summer heat! I bought a Mavea (up until recently I could purchase at Sur La Table) pitcher. The pitcher is BPA free and had excellent reviews everywhere I looked online. So far, I have been very pleased with it. I like that the lid shuts when it is full but doesn't cause water to run all over the counter. Top 5 Water Filtration Solutions |

I too have been on the same hunt. I ordered these from Crate and Barrel and love them. I do not like messing with lids (unless on our boat) so I opt for lid free. These have been durable and sweat free. A Plastic Cup We Approve Of | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Most grocery stores carry a product that you can put in your disposal to clean it (I think it's just called "Disposer Care"). It's little packets that when you turn your disposal on, a ton blue foam is released and it cleans out any little grit left in corners. It works miracles every time! It may not be the greenest solution but desperate times call for desperate measures. Don't waste your money on "Plink", it releases a fragrance that doesn't last more than 30 seconds and I don't feel like it cleans. How Do I De-Stink the Sink (Without a Disposal)? I applaud the overall idea but miss the days when television didn't have to have a perceived antagonist. It was conflicting between a documentary and a poorly written/created drama. The obviously fictional conflict with radio persona was discrediting to the overall affect the show was supposed to have and caused me to lose heart a bit quickly on in the show. I can't believe what I just read!?!? Really people... you are catching things on fire with gas stoves? In case you missed this in school, or in LIFE, fire or extreme heat causes things to... wait for it... LIGHT ON FIRE when in too close a proximity to the source of said extreme heat or flames. You just simply don't leave your kitchen towels right next to or even in direct contact with your stovetop. I'd recommend that you back away from grown up appliances all together and just go with an Easy Bake oven, they are pretty idiot safe. I kept only one of my non-stick pans from college. It's a large stock pot for cooking pasta. I've tried countless times to cook pasta in any of my Le Creusett round-ovens and found that after, I spend at least 20 minutes trying to get the cooked on pasta off the bottom of the pot. My nails haven't been the same since... Kitchen Mysteries: Why Stir Pasta as It Cooks? | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

We have a new Viking oven and have asked them several times to come calibrate it because it seems to be running too hot. Much to my surprise, we have been informed that Viking allows all of their ovens to vary in temperature by no more than 50 degrees. So apparently it is acceptable for your oven to run 50 degrees hot or cold, a facet to me which seems unacceptable. Luckily, it's not that hard to just adjust the cooking time or temperature accordingly, just takes a little reasoning. How Do I Calibrate My Oven? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I got the pampered chef version of the slap chop for Christmas and I can't bring myself to use it. I get some real satisfaction out of chopping vegetables (and the like) myself. It's a skill that I'm always improving but I just love producing a beautiful finished product, even if no one else ever notices the uniformity in the cuts that I work so hard for. I guess it's sort of like refusing to give up my paper books for an e-reader. How To Learn Great Knife Skills | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I love to add granola to my fruit smoothies. I'm very simple using strawberries and bananas, Greek yogurt, soy milk, agave nectar and at the very end I add some Back to Nature whole grain granola. It adds such a nice flavor and a bit of crunch. Making Smoothies: Easy Tips from Alton Brown | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

How has no one mentioned tetrazzini? Giada's Chicken Tetrazzini Recipe is to die for. I make several at a time and freeze. The first time I made this I imbibed a glass of wine too many and botched the recipe big time but it was still amazing! It never disappoints. I could kill my mother for this but when we were young and sick she'd put a cube of beef bullion in a coffee mug of hot water, stir until dissolved and we'd happily drink it up. It's now my default sick/comfort drink. Certainly not low in sodium and definitely evokes strange looks from significant others. keltrue- Enameled cast iron does not need to be heated dry or seasoned, one of the many advantages to the enamel coating. Try to call Le Creuset, they are phenomenal at replacing defective products as I don't believe they should be "blistering" no matter what the scenario may be. Le Creuset has discontinued the slate color (pictured first) sold exclusively at Williams-Sonoma. You can still get it on the site but I found it impossible to find it at any of the Dallas area stores. I just got my 7 1/2 qt french oven (in slate) last week and can't wait to make Coque Au Vin...
