@Sepher - check IKEA. Regarding the child crawling out of the crib: my folks left me in crib after I was mobile like this child and that's exactly how I broke my tibia, falling onto the hardwood floor.

I love all white but they really threw the baby out with the bathwater by painting over that ceiling. It would've kept the room from feeling anemic. It feels robbed of architectural interest somehow.

@LITTLEMISSSUNSHINE: It's a Dracaena marginata and it likes a little shade. They're one of the best plants for low-light rooms. Draceanas in general like an east or west window location. The marginata is known for tolerating less light than most.

@NATALIE: What a joyful pad! We are color sisters!

Your home, your colors.
Or perhaps you would prefer to live with someone else's choices. But then the question (and exercise) is no longer about color.

Hi AnnaMaria-
Get yourself over to that fabulous library and check out a copy of Gardening With Ed Hume and actually follow his directions in chapter 1.
Jumping into planting without planning is expensive and usually yields frustrated homeowners. I get most of my clients after they have done this and are giving themselves a hard time. But you are savvy and thoughtful and a good book can be a smart gal's best bud.

I think the astro-turf is the most frightening element regarding the fire escape debate. If that stuff were on fire it would make getting out pretty rough. Total toxic smoke action.

Nice job, though, making a tiny space into a sweet little home.
