One time I was shopping at an antique mall and struck up a conversation with one of the managers. She took a liking to me and gave me 10% off all my purchases. Then she told me they'll do it for anyone, it was the store policy, and all I had to do was ask!

I think every single one of these photos is going in my inspiration file. If I could afford to hire a consultant and renovate my house, I'd pick her in a heartbeat. Such a lovely home!

The apartment is lovely, and I'm totally jealous! The architecture, textures and color are amazing, but 15 vignettes of the same small area taken from different camera angles is annoying.

Watering in the morning is best. But if your containers dry out quickly, you'll have to water them in the afternoon, also. Just try to keep the leaves dry or your plants could end up with powdery mildew and other fungal diseases.

Big bottle of cheap vodka a medium bottle of clear artificial vanilla = air freshener and cleaner.

I'll have to try the gin 'n jasmine combo when my current batch runs out.

If you want to circulate air through the house, one particular to keep in mind is to pull air in from the cool side of the building and push it out the hot side, because you don't want to pull in hot air.

For example, I (luckily) have a corner apartment. So I have box fans to pull air in on the east side and push the air out on the south side. The air on the east side is cooler because the sun isn't hitting that wall, and the air is shaded by the building.

@redneckmodern — what do you mean the balcony is to small to be used? I'd kill for a balcony that big. My current balcony is maybe 1/2 that size and look what's possible with that.

I vote for the balcony. Both for the private outdoor space, and I like the layout more.

These look so delightful. I fear they'd be a nightmare to maintain, though.

This is my first time trying tomatoes — I'm growing one very generically named Patio (by Bonnie) that I picked up at Lowe's. It's just that it's very small (about 2-3') and fits very well in my 6x8 balcony garden. So far it's doing really well!

The white picket fence for the piggies is ingenious. I need to redo my girls' cage, and though I don't think the fence would work so well for my decor, you've inspired me to think outside the box.

I also like that you didn't cram the space full of furniture — I think you could have fit a sofa — but this way there's lots of room to breathe!

My favorite Craigslist score is a Duncan Phyfe-style dining table that seats 2 at it smallest, 12 at the largest. It has 3 leaves to go in the middle, and drop-leaves on the ends. Perfect for having a bunch of people over for dinner or D&D.

I'm still working on collecting enough chairs to seat 12 people though...
