I use both on a regular basis, and the biggest advice I have to PC users switching over is this. Be prepared for far less freeware than you're used to, particularly since the , be readdy for nag screens and shareware like hassles. Also get ready to be forced to upgrade your OS or be left behind. OSX has been doing cheap upgrades so it's not a big deal. But not being able to find software compatible with Leopard is irritating when just about everything that runs on Windows 7 will work on XP.

Don't use a macbook :P. Seriously though, they're highly susceptible to heat problems because of how their cooling works. Raising is off the table by propping a book or something under it can make a huge difference. And don't use one of those rubber keyboard covers, it blocks a lot of the airflow.

I saw those or something incredibly similar at Haworth's showroom at the merchandise Mart in Chicago so I'm sure they've worked their way into a few commercial spaces. Big clusters of them look great hanging from the ceiling.

Eeeeh, I really wouldn't recommend all these ideas.
Formatting and defragging is largely necessary and has been for some time. Defrag is pretty much pointless on 7, and formatting should only be done as a last resort not as regular maintenance.

If you just need to keep performance up looking into a cpu upgrade may be a better option than a new video card. New video cards are great, but often expensive, and if your computer is so out of date that it can't handle multiple monitors then no amount of upgrades would be worth it, you need a new computer.

I don't see any reason for me to cancel, I think it's a silly knee jerk reaction honestly. I will go down to streaming only because I rarely get dvds.
Then again, I don't have cable tv, and $10/month to watch everything on demand is still better than any cable offer around.

I'd love one. Sitting in a room full of people working on 3d models is a non stop click-fest.

XBMC has turned into kinda a monster over the years. The last versions of it released for the xbox didn't run that smooth either.

This is a great example of one of my biggest mac gripes. Tons of programs that have free equivalents (though not as slick) are paid software, or shareware with lots of nag screens. It's maddening just how little freeware there is for macs.

Even if you keep a fake tree for a long time, it's still made with petroleum products, won't deteriorate naturally, and will be thrown away some day. Being 'carbon neutral' isn't the entire issue.

Sadly the in wall style of fireplaces generally do a really poor job of heating a house. If you want to use a fireplace as a main heat source a free standing model is much better.
