I'm from Oly too and I've been a fan of Nikki McClure for some time. I have so many fond memories of going to the Farmer's market there with my dad. I definitely need to get this book for my children.

So many options. I avoid all noise making toys whenever possible. My baby is 6 months old and loves anything he can grasp or chew on. I got some Melissa & Doug bendable wood grasping toys for $10 each @ Toys R US that are great.

Also love the wood baby toys at IKEA. I bought my baby the stacking rings and shape sorter.

I made a collage of all of the grand kids silhouettes for my in-laws last Christmas and loved the way it turned out.

My mom made stuffed cloth ornaments for our tree when I was young and I decided to make a few of my own for our family tree last year. I used a great retro Christmas print; cut around the Santa's, sewed them up and stuffed them with filling. They are family friendly and super cute on the tree.

I keep the Christmas books separate and just get them out during the holidays. I just bought the kids, "White Snow, Bright Snow" by Alvin Tresselt and Roger Duvoisin and it is beautiful. It could easily be added to this list of wintry books.

There are lots of great ideas out there now. I really liked the felt house advent calendar at The Land of Nod last year, so I made my own version and I'm excited to get it out and hang it up again this year. I hope it will be a special part of our holidays and that my children can inherit it one day.

We bought my daughter the Westport doll house for Christmas two years ago. I didn't love the PB Kids doll house people also, so I bought the Melissa & Doug wooden family doll set. They are super cute, bendy and they come with a mom, dad, brother, sister, baby and grandparents.

I just bought my kids a table top from IKEA for art projects and homework with these adjustable legs so I can make the table a bit shorter and adjust the height later on.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60105301

The legs are $15 each and there are tons of different table tops @ IKEA to chose from. I went with stainless steel so I could easily clean off crayon and marker and my kids love sticking magnets to it as well.

I was just looking at this room on Flickr last night! I love it. I am trying to create a polished playroom/craft room/family room and looking for inspiration. I love this toy storage and the artwork display.

My daughter received this doll for Christmas from us and she LOVES it. She is so soft and snuggly unlike other plastic dolls and I just love the size and sweet details. She named her "Violet" and she has become part of the family.

I will add that I am not in love with the clothing the offer for the dolls which is so-so and pricey. I ended up sewing her a little skirt and top and a nightgown to match the one I made my daughter. I'd love to invest in the little sweater and shoes they sell but they are pretty pricey.

Does anyone know of any other doll clothes to buy which will fit this doll?

Patrick,

I just wanted to clarify that we have a family of four and adding some organization to the hallway gave the children a way to organize their things rather than leaving them on the floor. The kids love putting their shoes in their own "cubbies" and hanging their jackets on the new hooks which are now at their height.

We recently organized our narrow hallway to make space for shoes, coats, etc. We bought the HEMNES shoe storage cabinets from IKEA and now the kids love having their own "cubbies" to put their shoes in. We also use the drawers for mittens, scarfs, hats, and more. Next to the cabinets we hung a coat rack at the children's level and now their jackets have a home rather than being thrown on the ground.
