This sound sooo familiar!!!
If i have someting on my mind, i have to do it. And when your home alone you get more things done. Really!
My boyfriend is the kind of person that sometimes don't approve my rearrange ideas.
When he's away a can do my thing. When he's back, he never wants to put stuff back on its place.
So... Mission completed!

I don't want anything on that spot!!
It gets dusty and greasy. So the only thing thats going to be on top of my cabinets are old newpapers.
I want to cover the whole surface so if its getting too dirty i just have to remove the newspapers and put new ones on it. That way you will never have to clean... I only have to put this (old) idea in practise :)

I don't like the staged bathrooms either. Thats the same with some DIY - programms. They never show you really, really the proces only the result. The difficult parts are cut out.

You have done a great job with choosing your colors. They are very nice mixed together. The orange with the blue.. and green...

Great improvement, but i think your too careful with your changes. Your room is in great need for some daring colors and objects.
Because your sofa is off-white i would pick more earth-colors for your walls and accessories, like dark brown, camel, muted greys.. It works great with the black items.
You could paint the walls were your pc and windows are darker. So your room looks less longer and more wider.
Your room needs also more high furniture, like a cabinet. Now is everyhing very low-based.
These are some basic things you can keep in mind.
But i think its a great idea to put some more large art pieces on your wall behind the sofa.
Some footstools will be great too because they are relaxe and you can put your drink on it!
