When I first moved to my new apartment I didn't like that there was no dishwasher, but now I prefer it. Everything gets put away quickly and I'm not constantly looking for a utensil only to have to take it out of the dishwasher and wash it. Plus, unloading the thing is such a time commitment compared to putting things away a few at a time.

I have a drainer that moves from counter to sink, which is really handy. I like to use both sides of the sink when I'm doing dished so I wouldn't want my drainer to be permanently over it but I like to put it out the way after I finish.

If you can't match the tile I would remove the three to the right of it and buy 4 funky tiles to go in those spaces, or even get one long solid colored tile cut to fit the space. You could either do something bold, or understated, such as off white tiles with engraved/embossed flowers, depending on your style and what look you're going for in the room.

Does anyone have an oven like the one in the second picture (not exact, just that style)? I've seen new versions of them and I love the way they look but I'm wondering if they are functional/energy efficient.

I would reverse the colors you have going on now and paint it all red with aqua accents. Thin aqua stripes or different sized circles would look interesting.

Having a bright color on the wall really brings my place together. I just moved into a new apartment and painted the walls sort of an aqua color, it's more green than blue. My main accent is sky blue and I have a little orange as well.

I rent and this is the first time I've ever been allowed to paint. I've never been quite satisfied with white walls and only colored accents. Although, I've seen rooms that I love done that way. I think it takes a certain kind of talent to be able to do that and make it look cohesive. For me, it's easier to do a wall color.

I agree with five monkeys about using white. I'm just learning that a ton of white paint can keep a room from looking like a clown threw up. Also, keeping most of the furniture one color helps. If you have multiple shades of wood in a colorful room it can look too chaotic.
