Unfortunately the one with the money doesn't really apply... as long as you have at least 51% of the bill, you can get it replaced!

I had this same problem, but with cigarette smoke... and it was supposed to be a non-smoking building. Turns out the plumbing access in my closet was connected to some other place in the building that the smokers had chosen to use as their ashtray. I raised hell on the managers until they solved the problem with the other tenants and closed the holes in my closet.

When I was 12, I swore up and down to my mother that I would marry Jonathan Brandis, and I demonstrated it via my bedroom walls.

I do this all the time! I make sure to use out-of-license works if I'm printing, but I also use fabric, old books, sheet music, lots of things! My boyfriend also loves to take digital photos; we have a whole collection of his photos in our living room.

surfjack, no kidding! I JUST bought one this year, specifically to hang in my classroom (when I get it). I anticipate it will be a lifesaver for my students when they're tired or grumpy or just bored.

I had a lot of BIG closets in my last apartment, so sacrificing one to Kitty was not a big deal. I didn't have the option of 'editing' the door, so I did the next best thing... just took it off the hinges entirely! I stored it in another closet and hung the opening with a pretty piece of fabric. I was also able to store some more 'outdoor' items in that closet too, like my camping gear in a tub on the top shelf, not being too worried about any strange smells. If you can't cut a space in the door, this might be a good option for folks! In the meantime, why not use that extra door as a headboard?

I like the Bernal House railing; if you have an concerns about little heads getting stuck between spindles, this could save you a lot of headaches.

But honestly, all of them are gorgeous! Airy and light but still 'down to earth,' I think any of them would suit your space.

Last year, I suffered along with the rest of the economy and got laid off. Fortunately for me, my boyfriend and I moved up our moving-in plans, so I came out okay on the financial side. But leaving my beautiful little (and final) bachelorette pad was heartbreaking.

It was my first post-college apartment on my own. It was my first city-girl digs. It was the first place that was mine and mine alone, and I'd made it perfect. I furnished on a half a shoestring budget, with the beautiful, charming, eclectic style that I'd admired on AT for years. This place WAS me.

When I moved out, I got rid of everything but a few personal items, a desk, and my couch (gorgeous green faux suede I'd gotten on CL... it is now on permanent loan to a friend with HER first apartment). My blue painted dining chairs. My clusters of unique, secondhand finds. My schoolhouse desk. My wingback chairs. My handpainted dresser. I felt like I was losing me in that move (along with my recently lost job... I felt like I had lost a lot).

I cried and cried, and it was a supremely difficult time. But in the end, it's turned out well: I've been able to go back to school, and will start my career as a teacher next year. And the boy and I have made his home 'ours' as I've injected my sense of whimsy and style into his modern townhome. We're brilliantly happy. So as with all loss, there is a great potential for gain.
