our kitchen/living room/dining room area is large, and is on the 2nd floor. our bedrooms are on the first floor. we never hang out down there, so i didn't want our daughter to be downstairs playing. that means, ALL our toys are off the living room (except most of her books) are in a little nook which is cleaned up nightly. if our daughter's bedroom was on the main floor, i'd have everything in her room. i had the greatest experience renting baby gear in chicago this past spring from "chicago baby's away." a full size crib, a tub of toys (albiet they all lit up and/or made noise - annoying) and linens. it was a dream to show up at a friends house with every there and ready to go. my 14 month old daughter at the time slept perfectly the entire time. imagine having a baby crawling around on their hands and knees after a guest has walked in with their shoes on, right off the streets of NYC or Oakland (where I live). yuk. the chemicals that are used in this country can have residual effects on your health, especially a baby. i'm looking to create a "mail station" in the house. my husband brings in the mail, and puts it wherever...stairs, diningroom table, etc. there isn't a lot of space, but maybe wall mounted? to section my mail, his mail, catalogues/magazines, bills, etc....any suggestions or articles on other's mail station areas? Glidden, your favorite home depot paint, is the same line as ICI. ICI is sort of the industry brand. ICI has a no-voc line called Lifemaster 2000. Glidden/ICI has a low VOC paint (maybe it's no VOC...can't recall). The line is called Lifemaster 2000. While it's not available at the Depot, you can get it at most major paint stores.
