Who would be uncomfortable asking someone to remove their shoes upon entering the house? It's standard etiquette to take off your shoes when going into someone's house. Just surprised that tip had to make the list.
As an allergy sufferer, I do institute a lot of those tips, but still have to faithfully take an oral antihistamine, steroid nasal spray and have my asthma inhalers close by. Environmental avoidance only goes so far.

I grew up having to retrieve things from my parents' packed-to-the-brim-chest-freezer, and upon purchasing my own freezer a few years back, bought the upright freezer with glee. No more sore back from almost climbing inside to find something at the bottom and no more cold fingers from moving things around to pick up something under that giant turkey. So much easier...

Weird, I have never seen cottage cheese with canned fruit. Is it an American thing? I'm partial to cottage cheese on its own.

Wow, I thought I planted a lot this year but it looks like nothing compared to some of the veg gardens listed here. I have:
rhubarb, raspberries, leeks, onions, garlic, asparagus, carrots, beefsteak tomatoes, cherry tomatoes (assorted colours), pole beans, snap peas, zucchini, yellow squash, sunburst squash, broccoli, spinach, assorted lettuces, and herbs (cilantro, basil, thai basil, italian parsley, oregano, chives, tarragon, sage, rosemary, thyme)
Whew, that's still quite a lot....

I have 3 big windows in my kitchen--one over the sink and two flanked side by side in the kitchen nook. Bright and sunny--I couldn't imagine having no windows in there, or in any room, really.

Beautiful. The colour I gravitate the most towards is green. In fact the majority of my house is various shades of green, created as a happy accident. It's a great flow.
Just not a fan of emerald green for the most part.

Hi William,
The picture of your living room excites me. I have one of the leather/bent wood chairs as well--either the same or similar--and have been scouring the internet for a couple years trying to find out who made it. Do you have any idea who designed them/manufactured them?
My chair belonged to my father; I once saw 2 for sale on Queen St in Toronto and did not purchase them at the time--I am kicking myself now.

Where to start?
I hate that every surface becomes "counter space" when cooking a meal--the small kitchen table, the stove, etc--and then having to find a spot for the stuff one the stove in order to, I don't know, actually use the stove!
The 1 1/2 sink which makes washing dishes next to impossible, given that 1 of the sinks must be where the clean dishes go, as there is absolutely no room for a drying rack...unless the kitchen table gets used again.
Lack of storage--trying to find a necessary kitchen gadget in one of two stuffed drawers.
