I love it! And I love that I can just straight to the Supplies section - I always loved the articles that focused on pantry needs and tools. And I'll definitely be utilizing the Seasons tab on the left.
Nice job.

If it's best to avoid conventional apples, then can you tell me what unconventional apples are? This term is confusing. Thanks!

I second the request for ways to clean a bathroom!

How to collect rainwater using the gutters or other methods.

And not just how to dry clothes but wash clothes in a healthy and sustainable way.

Thank you!

Oh, I can't wait for people to ask if Portland is just like Portlandia. Can't wait.

House of Vintage on Hawthorne. Take good walking shoes, it's big.

The Saturday Market is a great place to find inspiration.

You have to consider the efficiency of the unit to determine if it's beneficial. I've lived in a house with both a wood stove and a fireplace and the wood stove heated the room far better than the fireplace.

You also have to consider the region you live in. Some areas do not have easy access to seasoned wood and some areas are, well, forests.

I love the stove I have in my home and it does an amazing job of heating the house. But I also use my paper trash as fire starter and use firewood from a family-friend's acreage. Nothing beats it.

(you can also easily install a pellet stove that runs off of pellets made from wood waste)

This is a big weekend for me! I plan on catching up on all those bits and pieces I've had to put off. Repairs will be made, the outbox's items will be recycled or donated, the papers will finally get filed (I ran out of folders!) that clutter up my desk and the bathroom will get a good deep clean as I go through everything that has found its way there.

I can think of no better motivator than the bath I plan to take Sunday night in my fresh, clean and organized bathroom!

If it weren't for the weekly posts and inspirations, I could never get through these 8 weeks. I'm so happy with how things are coming together! Thank you!

Now that I FINALLY put together a landing area (with great help from the AT idea post!), I can now catch up to the rest of the gang. :)

My desk space could really use some serious attention and I look forward to getting it cleaned up and organized. Maybe! Just maybe, I'll actually be able to study at my desk for a change. I know the media fast will help with that...

Can't wait to take the After pictures, with a tassel inconspicuously placed somewhere in the apartment. ;)

@AmberFirecracker: Unfortunately, there is no room for a table. The width of the entry way is about the width of the door itself! (with a few inches of extra room)

I think I may brainstorm how to create a suitable landing pad in the kitchen area. It is really the only potential place for my purse, grocery bags and coats to land.

This will take some crafting, but I'll get there!

Thanks for your help!

I am having the exact opposite problem from Amberfirecracker :(

I have to walk down a long narrow corridor type entrance to get to the living/kitchen area.

My place is a studio type loft with one wall dividing the bedroom from the living/kitchen area.

It's like a tunnel. As you walk in, you are surrounded by walls and then the bathroom door is on the left, almost immediatly on the left. I have a bit of space for a coat rack next to the bathroom door but immediately after the coat rack is the bedroom "nook." It's not until you pass the bedroom that you come to the kitchen and living space where I could potentially have a place for a Landing Pad. ("strip" sounds... awkward...)

When I come home, I always go straight from the door to the kitchen table, bypassing the coat rack only to return to it after I've set my purse and bags down on the kitchen table. Most of the time, my coat and scarf never make it to the rack.

Ugh. I am just having the hardest time...

This Cure season couldn't have come at a more perfect time for me.

I hope to create a space that is both relaxing and reviving. Like that feeling you get after a serious yoga session where 5 minutes ago you were drained and lying on the floor feeling your breath calm you down and 5 minutes from now you will feel full of life, recharged. (I hope I can make it happen)

I also hope to use this Cure to rid my place of all the old college furniture/kitchenware I "aquired" and move on to more personal, complimentary pieces. It's time to feel more adult. :)

Thank you!

This is such good timing - I am moving Today! The fourth time in 5 years...

And, in fact, the kitchen is going in first. Followed by the "Necessities" trip. (I don't use moving vans, just my friends' and my car) Who knew I'd finally get the system right. :)

Tomorrow the large items and things I have to build go in along with the painting and installs I need to do.

Then, on Saturday the friends arrive to do the "big push" and get everything else moved. There's no hope in getting people to help on Sunday, who wants to move while there's a Super Bowl?

It should work out to be my fastest move yet. :)

Thanks for all the moving posts! I have absorbed all the info!

I prefer the Romantic style while my parents do the minimal/modern look.

Thus, our tree this year is covered in blue lights, white glass bulbs and all the handcrafted/tchotchke ornaments that I love and fought to have on the tree.

The night we decorate the tree is very interesting...

But now, I can at least understand the sides we both come from.

It's just beautiful. Just beautiful.

Fairy tales emerge out of the strife and struggle of life. And sometimes, they emerge in rooms.

Dream, indeed.

Yellow Yellow Yellow. Paint the cabinets and the above walls yellow! It will pair well with the black and white and match the red of the bar as well.

I think by continuing the color from the cabinets to the ceiling, it will make the room seem so much larger and warmer.

Good Luck! :)

If AT stopped posting articles originating from NYTimes, I would not be sad. Heck, I probably wouldn't notice. AT is too crafty and creative to depend on their dull, drab design news. (The NYTimes is only vaguely aware of the West Coast, let alone my beautiful Pacific Northwest, anyway... They are not a news source/design source for me)
