We've had IKEA kitchen cabinets for almost 6 years and they are great. Basically all the frames are the same product, it's the fronts that vary the price. We bought the cheapest fronts and used them as templates to cut birch plywood and run the grain sideways. We also set them 6" from the back walls for extra deep counters. So a little extra framing was needed but not a big deal. I agree with the other comments about hardware, the selection is pretty limited. I would absolutely install IKEA kitchen cabinets again. Can't beat the price.

Also, if you have $730.55 to spend on yarn (pre-tax), you can knit this simple blanket. Cozy indeed.

I've only tried out one store bought dry shampoo spray, it made my hair feel gross.

I regularly use Burt's Bees baby powder on non-wash days. It helps with the extra oil and adds a little volume, but my hair never looks nice enough to wear down. So on those days I put it up in a low bun or pony tail.

The trick is to really brush the powder out. I'm going to look into recipes mentioned above, since I don't love the baby powder smell and maybe the texture would be finer.

I'm totally on board with all things eco-friendly. But these products are feeling really whiny to me. "I'm a green bag". "Look at how green I am". This stuff is everywhere. I'm Pro Earth and I'm even sick of this crap. How 'bout sticking with reusable items that are just pretty. Isn't that enough?

I too had simple pan-fried hominy as a child. Butter, s&p, and saute until it gets a little color. I absolutely love it, and it cant be any cheaper (which is why we ate a lot of it back then).

Very interesting post. I design websites for home/garden brands. Warm colors seem to have more appeal to users in the food/recipes category. Think, gold, pumpkin, cranberry, plum and lots of warm neutrals. If green is used, its almost always a warmer shade. Rarely have I seen blue used in the food/recipe space.

Spicy anything and everything. Its probably not good for an upset stomach, but for some weird reason, that's when I want it the most. Hot and sour soup, chai lattes, chili, thai curry. I think my body secretly just wants to sweat it out. Seems to help though.

Great post! And great comments too. I want to add jarred salsa verde to the list. I'm amazed at how much we eat. I use it as a base for white chili, in casseroles, on eggs, on everything. Oddly never with chips :)

I make this all the time! My favorite version is with some hummus in there too. Sometimes if we don't have pita, I use tortillas. Doesn't matter as long as you have the hot/cold thing going on.

Yes! Every time we cook, we toss our compostables in a bowl on the counter. Egg shells and coffee grounds too. I'll admit, sometimes it doesn't go outside until the next day. But I'm working on it. My husband also tosses in his juice pulp from the juicer. I've seen pricier compost containers with a lid and smell filter. But I think if I had one I'd take it out to the composter even less often and then it would be gross. So, yes, the bowl works!

I made this recipe Monday night, and it was fabulous! I used about 1/3 white whole wheat flour, and "baked" them on the grill since it was on anyway to grill some fish. They puffed and came out perfect. Will definitely make them again.

my husband and i love to have homemade muffins around for breakfast. problem is - we cant eat them all before they get stale. so we individually wrap them and keep them in the freezer. usually we have 2 flavors on hand - our all time favorite is banana chocolate chunk (a recipe i came up with). i just posted it on http://www.mixingbowl.com, a new social/recipe site: http://mixingbowl.com/message/recipe/view.castle?g=688781&m=3210398

another outstanding recipe i have is for oatmeal muffins, theyre really hearty and healthy too. here's the link: http://mixingbowl.com/message/recipe/view.castle?g=688781&m=3210449

enjoy!!
