What a great topic!

I agree with the women who can't bring themselves to like beer and/or lamb. I WISH I liked beer--seems like it would be fun, there's so much variety, and the people who love it REALLY love it. But I just don't really like it! Just like the poster above, my husband wishes I liked it more too, but it just doesn't take with me.

Same with lamb...I love Indian food and my husband is always wanting to try a lamb dish. But it's just too gamey for me.

Wow, that's cool! I didn't know they made those.

I think it would be fun to put nuts and olives into it as an hors d'oeuvres tray.

It would be fun to put different kinds of candies into it too.

It's sort of nice to have a *few* options handy. I would keep it...but also get a Le Creuset at some point.

I have 2 Le Creuset Dutch ovens, a small one and a large one. The kitchen store near my house puts them on sale every once in a while, so I waited for sales and then asked for them around Christmas time as gifts. They are worth it as an investment and they work really well...But I think you could get some enjoyment out of the one you already have.

And just to let you know, I'm pretty sure the cast iron is exposed a bit on my Le Creuset pans too...I'm not at home now, so I can't check, but I think this is normal, not a sign of inferiority.

p.s. to the person who keeps burning their pot--yes, you should keep the heat down lower when using a Dutch oven, because they do retain heat much more than ordinary pots.

I have a great food recycling plan, but it only works if you have access to (some) wildlife. I live in a city but I work on a college campus that is loaded with squirrels, crows, and sseagulls. I have gotten into the habit of bringing leftover food in for the animals on campus and they loooooooove it.

The squirrels were especially adorable when eating leftover grilled cheese sandwiches!!! :)

Yeah, she said it's "another" way to feel connected, not the ONLY way. I think it's a neat idea.

That is AMAZING. If it were me, I would have ordered a few pizzas, re-heated them in the oven the next day, and called it good. :P

Well done, Amy! It doesn't even look like a last-minute menu at all. I can't believe you even made appetizers.

I love getting french fries in restaurants, I never make them at home.

Also, Ethiopian food. I love Ethiopian bread but it looks so involved to make at home. Also, Ethiopian restaurants are CHEAP so there's not even any point to making a less-good home version.

I pretty much only eat omlettes at home (and most eggy breakfast) because I'm always afraid that restaurant versions will be too greasy.

I bought some really pretty ones last year at Nordstrom--they were in the Martha Stewart section of the cookware department. I'm assuming you could order them online from her website as well? They came in quantities of 10 or so, and they were very prettily designed paper boxes with bright polka dots, big enough to hold a small portion of cupcakes or cookies. They were sold flat, and then you just fold them into the box shape at home.

I haven't looked this year, but I bet a similar item is available again.

Yeah, I hate 'em too! I met one of Jessica's cousins who said that growing up, she couldn't stand her, and that she was always very greedy and superficial. Oh, and her real name is Nina. She changed it as a teenager to Jessica.

My husband and I usually eat on the couch while watching TV or a movie, but that's not as bad as it sounds--we interact a LOT while "watching" stuff, so it's social.

I actually hate not eating at the table on principle. But our apartment is small and the table is usually cluttered.
