The before was actually really nice but the after is phenomenal. Like everyone else I'm in love with the blue tile.

not really a fan. nothing about it looks like something I'd want to place my baby inside of - I echo the previous comments that were concerned about airflow. It's cool looking but that's about it.

We have the ceramic crock pictured. Even with the lid and filter it gathered tiny fruit flies in the summer - gross.

We started lining the crock with compostable bio bags that we twist at the top between uses. When the bag is full we just dump that in our compost cone.

I have been trying to purchase that recycling truck but it was sold out everytime I looked. The design of that jump rope is not quite right though. :-/

We have the Haba walker wagon but would have purchased the Ikea walker had I known that it existed before we bought the Haba one.
Here's the one we have:

we have the dove, the lil twig rattle and the see me star. the line isn't new - I purchased them for my son about a year ago when he was still an infant.

the great thing about these is that they are sold at stores like Babies R Us that don't traditionally carry these kinds of toys (wooden, made with non-toxic paints, etc...)

also if you have an architectural salvage place in your area you can check there to see if they have any.

i'm very aware of this. but fenix hasn't actually slept in his room yet (we cosleep) when he is actually sleeping in his room i'll move the crib away from the window.

Trader joe's sells a premade mirepoix. It's in the section where they have the fresh herbs and salad greens....saves time on all the dicing.

This is the perfect base for a bean soup (navy beans, split pea). If you eat meat, sautee some cubed ham in the pan first, add the mirepoix, then add hot broth, beans, sage and a bay leaf.

i agree with natipug. i just had my son and i would be bummed if my husband got me something baby related for my birthday. i don't think it's selfish to say so. when you have a baby it's pretty much all about them from that point onward.

jewelry or a gift card to her favorite store would be great.

as far as not her not liking being touched by other people, wait till she is in labor. there will be a room full of people touching her and i'm pretty sure that she won't care!

Does this stroller work only for infants or can it be used for toddlers too? I'm expecting our first child and would love to buy this but I can't justify the price if it won't be useful once my child is a toddler.
