I really appreciate the tips and will re-work the top of the right panel and maybe try looser ties. I just added a matchstick blind actually, and it looks so much better. I happened to go to Big Lots and found one for $19.99. Deal of the month.

@*spanky*, sorry if my delay in responding bothers you. I didn't know this posted.

Thanks everyone!
@K.M. the closet is 5x8 feet. The door shot is so you get a sense of the room I was coordinating with. There is only one door to the closet and it's the one on the right in that photo.

This is lovely. I have a small carriage house on my property that looks like the same size. Could you share the dimensions of the structure per chance?

Hi hayleymar- You can definitely remove them but they won't re-stick.

Mikomiko- The desk is from IKEA (5 years ago.)

Jenjo- I did not color code the cords or label them but you sure could.

aml75- Some did some didn't. The closet doors used in this example did and they are wood. The other closet doors pictured in the collage were ordered but are also wood. The kitchen cabinet doors were made by a carpenter and are birch wood.

How To Install a Door Pull the Right Way Tips & Techniques

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback! I am really pleased with it.

A few responses: the lights were already wired so I left them as they were originally installed. The carpenter who built the mantel measured 18" from the top of the stove to the mantel and I ordered corbels (23") to fit within his measurements. He led me to believe there was a certain rule of thumb for the large white space you see. Maybe he was making that up.. anyone know? It is not three feet as someone mentioned.

It's funny that someone suggested to play with the geometric lines of the wood. I intentionally tried to cover them up. Different strokes...

The after shot is simply the finished fireplace without decor...in real life, it does have color incorporated onto it (colored glass bottles and dried flowers) which help to break up the white. What you can't see is that the rest of the house (which is open concept) has bright green kitchen cabinets and a sweet potato colored wall opposite the fireplace. There is A TON of color everywhere which balances all that white. The window that you see is going to be replaced and trimmed out to match the others soon so it won't have a modern feel.

@JynxnJez what sort of panel do you mean?

White is not the best choice for a fireplace that is used often, but since this is older, I only use it a couple of times a year.

I will take a photo at night with the lights dimmed and add it. ;)

This bathroom measures 5' x 8' and I have to say that the epoxy paint is not holding up well in year 2. I would love to gut the tub and surround and re-tile. There were issues with the original epoxy as the drain was not properly covered and un-taped which caused immediate chipping.

AT's mission is "Helping people make their homes more beautiful, organized and healthy by connecting them to a wealth of resources, ideas and community online."

Since AT now publishes tours from across the country (not just NYC) focusing on spaces 500 square feet or less is not realistic.

You may see dollar signs when you look at the house but please also try to see the incredible inspiration through design and thoughtful furnishing. And please remember that a 6000 square foot farmhouse in NH will often be less expensive than many apartments within Manhattan.

My friend just sent me this link! That is my bed in my old room!! I bought this bed in NH at an antique store. It is only full size. I am actually looking to sell it, so if you're ever in NH let me know! It comes apart and is very easy to move. :)

Where Can I Find a Bed Like This? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy DC
7/22/10 12:07 PM

kattykat:

1. Sometimes pets hide under beds and run away from strangers. I don't remember seeing the cats in the house. They must have been hiding.

2. I find that homeowners do a lot of running around organizing and cleaning before the shoot and it's sort of asking a lot to request a photo of them as well. People generally do not like their picture taken. Sometimes only one of the owners/ renters are home during the shoot etc.

3. The cut off you are describing has to do with your monitor's resolution. AT offers the thumbnail view so you can view pictures in any order if you want.

4. I really like the idea of a floor plan, but that involves someone drawing it and a scanner which isn't always possible.

Each house tour is different. Some people are still working on their spaces and only want to share certain rooms. Some people want to share their outside space, others do not. We work with each person's situation individually.

THANK YOU David! I have used blue-purple in my bath, a similar pink and cream in my bedroom, and a similar green in my kitchen. I have been thinking it's a bit too sweet, but now that I see it here I feel justified. :)

i love how everything is perfectly organized and how all the furniture looks luxurious and substantial. i want my house to feel like that but it seems like it is an endless battle to clean and put things away. i realize this is staged but i am sold on the idea that it's possible.
