I would take a culinary vacation over a lot of others (including beaches) any day!

I usually crave something salty/crunchy. I try to plan ahead and have healthy things on hand but... I fail.

We used a pre-heated pizza stone on the grill and got an excellent result -- without having to flip the dough before adding toppings (we're sorta lazy).

The Golden Spouse said it was the best pizza I've made so far. Jack the Beaglador liked it, too (he stole one of them when we weren't looking).

I have a bread machine that I used to use weekly -- but only on the "dough" cycle. I take the bread out before the last rising so I can shape it into a baguette.

The past couple of times, though, the bread hasn't been very good -- it hasn't risen enough. I don't know if it's a problem with the bread maker (it's a Sunbeam, about a year old) or with the weather (hot and humid South).

I'm going to try making it all myself and see if I can get the hang of it.

My favorite blueberry dish is straight up with a little cream... it feels very decadent.

A close second, though, is to cook the blueberries with a little sugar to make a compote, then use them with some sliced almonds in a baked brie.

We had laminate floors in our kitchen, but we had a major spill on our move-in day (the previous owner hadn't shut the water to the ice maker off when they took the 'fridge -- so when we turned the water on, the ice maker feed flooded the kitchen). The planks cupped and contracted, leaving large gaps that collected debris.

We had ceramic tile put in instead. We have a beaglador -- beagle/lab -- he spit-shines, too -- but he also dribbles about half of what he drinks, so we're always mopping up after him. It's a piece of cake on the tile.

We do this with sweet potatoes, too -- it's really wonderful.

When my husband and I were first dating, he made a fantastic cherry cheesecake for my birthday. He told me it was his grandfather's recipe.

After we got married and I was combining our cookbooks, I found the recipe -- a photocopy of a Philadelphia Cream Cheese box.

I made these for breakfast this morning -- they were yummy and cozy. But I didn't get the lovely domed clouds -- I got tall cylinders (I did use a popover pan).

What do I need to do to get the domes?

We've used coffee grounds as part of a rub for grilled salmon -- it was wonderful.

I need some help learning how to cook beefalo. I've tried several different cuts, and it has always turned out as tough as shoe leather.

I understand that I need to cook it at a lower temperature and for less time than beef, but it still doesn't work out right.

This is a local product for us, and humanely raised, so I'd really like to continue to serve it... but if my family won't eat it, then it's just wasteful.

Any suggestions?
