oops, I meant to say 12 inch, not 18! Ideal Kitty Litter for Apartment Dwellers? Good Questions |

we use a combo of fresh step clay and clumping litter, less perfumey smell but still clumps up. Most cats don't like covered litter boxes (at least in my experience and we've fostered many a cat) so we decided to try using 18 inch high rubbermaid boxes without the lids. They can throw litter around as much as they want and it won't go anywhere. As for tracking, we use a cheap bathmat with the rubber bottom. If accidents occur nothing leaks through, and it holds the stray pieces of litter a heck of a lot better than the plastic and rubber 'trackers'. Ideal Kitty Litter for Apartment Dwellers? half the time my husband and I sleep in the same bed, half the time not. Having the option for both ensures we both get sleep when we need it. When he needs a good night of sleep he'll go in the guest room and kick the cats out. Sometimes he snores all night so I go to the other bed. Sometimes it's cold and instead of turning the heater on we'll cuddle together with all of our cats and it's wonderful. Having that option to sleep separately can save marriages because really, how many fights break out because both parties are tired and cranky?... Couples Sleeping in Separate Bedrooms |

Babies don't have to be expensive at all, I roll my eyes whenever I see some of these 'must have' things on the market. The main thing with a baby is to find things that multitask. Put your changing table on top of a low dresser. Instead of pee-pee tee-pees, just throw a wipe over it while you change him, it's one less thing to have to haul around with you. Get hand me downs from friends who just had babies, then pass them on to someone else when they outgrow them. There are also really great resale fairs in practically every city. I want one for all my craft stuff, I have a huge box full of different buttons, snaps, ribbons, etc that would easily be organized in something like this. It would be good for all the things most people have in their junk drawers: stamps, batteries, pens, thumbtacks... I don't know if there is a buffet table's worth of drawers though, I just want a regular sized one. Library Chic: Card Catalog Furniture |

I just turned 30 and although I have wanted a 'grownup' house for a few years now my husband and I have finally agreed on what that means for us. He thought we would have to get rid of our more interesting decorations like our vintage monster movie posters or our large porcelain dragon. I explained that all I really wanted were things like posters in frames, shot glasses in the den and NOT the living room and a color coordinated living room. Do You Live In A Grownup House? |

I think the tile and countertops along with all the wood in the room (floors, trim) would look really good with green. If you're not up for stripping and restaining the cabinet doors a lighter blonde color I say paint them white or even green like they did here: http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/how-to/intro/0,,20209705,00.html Advice and Inspiration for Updating a Kitchen? sew yourself a slipcover, buy the sofa and save up to restore the chair! If you use the spraybottle tactic to train the cats not to scratch it, by the time you've saved up (or found a cheaper place to do it) to fix it they won't scratch it. I say only restore it if you actually like the lines of it. I personally think it's cool and funky (I also agree that jewel tones would pop on this thing) but if you don't like the design there's no reason to keep it, even if it is sentimental. My boyfriend snores something terrible... we actually have our bed in the dining room (we have a small apartment and never use a dining table anyway). We actually did this originally so I could use the bedroom as an art studio (and keep the cats away from the paint) but I also did it as a favor to the neighbors. How to Deal with a Snoring Neighbor? Also remember that ribbon has the same effects of tinsel on a cat's digestive system. It doesn't dissolve and can get wrapped around inside their intestines and if it's not surgically removed by a vet can be fatal. I'm very impressed at how non-cluttered this place looks for all the stuff that's there. I have similar tastes and always have a hard time not making my place feel like a stuffy antique shop. I think it has to do with the fact that everything is up on the walls and the floorspace is nice and open. The lack of shelving seems to make a difference too. Great space!
