anyone have any thoughts about the Somerset Kitchen Island from C &B? I live in a studio (200 sq. ft) and have basically no counter space. I was thinking this could double as both counter space and storage, and with a few stools a table.

Just a an additional comment regarding UV protection - for those concerned about it, don't forget to keep this in mind. Umbrellas don't necessarily shield you from UV rays. :

Like anything made with fabric, however, umbrellas and canopies provide different levels of protection depending on the type of material used. The denser the weave the higher the Ultraviolet Protection Factor or UPF. If the material is plastic coated, it will provide a higher UPF as plastics generally absorb ultraviolet radiation.

I'd be curious on how stable the high chair is. Very sleek but looks like it could tip very easily.

Excellent use of color! Love the blue and the yellow! Can you share the brand and name of both? Thanks!

PS - Dr. Sofa will take apart the sofa for you (literally saw it in half) and then put it back together like brand new.

Friends of mine ordered a sofa from C&B with specialized fabric and then couldn't get it through the door. Apparently Dr.Sofa came to the rescue.

If the issue is just getting it IN the apartment, you could always stick with the Camden and go with Dr.Sofa:

Agreed - the colors are amazing. Bold and yet not overpowering. Please share what the yellow is!

Ah. Harsh comments. Whether it qualifies or not - I'm not sure...but no need for the cut-throat.

I think in large part BECAUSE a dorm room is "temporary" living - that's what makes it so much harder to cultivate a feeling of home. Plus, as a reminder to those of us now out of dorm rooms, "temporary" is relative - you still need to live in it and a year (or two or three) is a long time. Especially on such a limited budget.

I say - great use of space.

So y'all heard about that crazy storm this past Sunday April 15th? Nor'easterner? Well Rabbit Movers did an outstanding job moving all my stuff, keeping it dry and it good shape - and through a monsoon no less.

Forget about it! Hands down the easiest, smoothest moving experience I've had. Quick responses to phone and email messages and were even early (!) on the day of my move. (In the big storm, may I remind you?)

Reasonably priced, and super professional, organized and friendly.

Beyond highly recommended. Wouldn't move w/o 'em.

And kudos to them for the professionalism with which they have responded to some of the posts on here.

I can't comment on which fabric to use, but I did just purchase great suspension tracks from ikea.

http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15594&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&productId=83176&langId=-1&categoryId=15846&chosenPartNumber=30115113

The link doesn't show it, but they have the option for double tracks, or triple tracks, where you can layerd different kinds of fabric.

Presumably, wherever you purchase your fabric from they'll have such options.

Good luck. Your place is beautiful!

you may want to purchase clear shampoo/conditioner/soap bottles (ranging from those at the corner dollar store to the containter store) and just refill them. i've seen a friend use clear bottles that are like the ones hairdressers put color in. looks very simple and sharp. you'd be surprised what a difference that could make. good luck!
