I've been meaning to thank you for posting so many wonderful vegan recipes. I became vegan this year and have truly appreciated the inspiration!

I thought it was the Coen Brothers A Serious Man that was up for an award, not A Single Man. The Manwich idea seems even more appropriate though given the era. I just went to the grocery store to find a can.

Oh how I wish I wasn't a member of the clean plate club. I am always alarmed when eating with others and I literally am the only one who cleans every bit off the plate. It is definitely something I think about. I would like to be able to leave a little bit more, take a little bit less.
A thoughtful post!

I made Julia's for New Year's Eve. Oh dear, a good learning experience and yes, two days of babysitting the dish switched off with active cooking.
I took a wrong turn somewhere, as in the end it turned out like adult babyfood (Jr's First Sausage?). Those that ate it that night said it was good, yet the husband tells me for the amount of energy expended it wasn't spectacular.

My cooking skills are still getting up to speed, so this was another notch in the belt, but I can't say I will be repeating the recipe in any near future.

I have been using Evernote as recipe storage for awhile. After I figured out how to set up a system that made sense to me, all the hard work of adding and organizing data has paid off, and I have it accessible at work, home, etc. I am a big fan after a bumpy test drive.

I was just thinking of this last night, as I had the oven cranked to 400 degrees, and the cooling system (heat pump working in the opposite direction of winter) cranked high. It seems a little decadent. For some reason since it started hitting 80 degrees here I have been on a baking binge though. Go figure.

Hurray!
After years of living in small apartments we thought we would settle into civilized digs when we bought our little house three years ago. A run to Ikea produced a nice small dining table and upright chairs...yet as you guessed it, like homing pigeons we still find ourselves camped around the tried and true coffee table, television front and center- and well have resigned ourselves to the fact that it is just fine this way.

How about how to get my fantasy that I will cook all the time and realize at the end of the week I have a fridge full of rotten vegetables while I am eating a bag of store bought popcorn. Sigh.
