So fun to randomly stumble upon the house tour of someone I know!! Kristy is just as warm in person as her house is. If only you could eat her restaurant's famous steak sandwich - then you'd get the full effect!

The West Elm Henry could be an option. We've got the opposite situation (modern husband/slightly less modern wife), and the Henry worked for us.

Echoing the many comments about how wonderful it is to have garden design on apartment therapy. hoping all these comments will spur a gardening AT spin-off like oh-dee-doh and the kitchn...fingers crossed!
For the beginners, it would be awesome to have a full library list - i started gardening two years ago, and spent the first 12 months buried in books. I learned SO much from the masters!

You might want to check your facts about "living craftsmen." Serge Mouille died in 1988. Saarinen died in 1961. Charles Eames died in 1978, Ray in 1988. Bertoia died in 1978. The primary recipients of revenue from these designs are corporations like Design Within Reach. Again, a debate about knockoffs is legitimate, but characterizing all of White's furniture as "stealing designs from living craftsmen" is just factually incorrect.

If you like the Neutra numbers but don't want to spent $48 per number (craziness!), check out Home Depot's version: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202051819/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053. Only $5.99 per number. We just bought some last night, and they look great in person. Now we'll have to see how hard they are to mount :).

Those who comment that it looks too clean or too impersonal need to remember that it is styled and perfectly clean in preparation for a photo shoot - no house looks like that without preparation.
the thing that i found most impressive about this house, despite it not being exactly to my taste (but i revel in the fact that there are so many equally valid design tastes in the world), is that everything looks well-made, tasteful, and (my apologies if this is totally gauche) expensive. not that looking expensive is necessarily something to strive for, but when i first saw the post, i thought - oh, this is silly, i cant afford any of this stuff. but when i saw the source list, much to my surprise, much was from my beloved ikea...

I feel like apartment therapy has been slowly but surely been changing their post topics and product highlights to appeal to the wealthy. I'm concerned that AT is going the way of Dwell - anyone else noticed this, or am I just being paranoid? Cause last time I check, 99% of the country does NOT own a summer house.

Oooh, I see potential for a Morrocan/tropical paradise!! Take a look at some of the picture from the recent Morrocan bathroom posts for inspiration. Jewel tones are all the rage, so you could play that up (without letting it get out of control colorful).

I made one of these recently, and I actually like it more than the Random Light. I used white crochet thread, clear acrylic glue, and fabric stiffener painted over the whole thing at the end. A kid's bouncy ball gave it the perfect round shape. It didn't take more than an hour or two - buying the ingredients around town was the more time consuming piece. Definitely don't buy the random - this is way better!!

totally unnecessary given the 10 million love love loves above, but I LOVE this house!! I grew up in Concord, MA and it reminds me of my mom's house - except with more style and pizazz! What an incredible place! Inspires me to use more color in my own design!

First (unsolicited) comment - I think your rug may be a bit small for the space. I urge more talented ATers than I to offer some suggestions for the floor covering...
For the lighting, I'm thinking large pendant or modern rustic (perhaps danish - i'm thinking something even room and board-ish) chandelier. I can't tell if your entry table has a table lamp on it, but if it doesn't, I'd add one there.
Love the skull and cross bones pillow on the fancy chair - fab :).

My husband and I just ordered two custom roman blinds (very simple white cotton duck) for our (very boring) french doors from www.getblinds.com for under $200 total. The customer service was INCREDIBLE - we emailed them at 9:00pm on a Friday and they had called us by 9am Saturday morning. Our first time around they didn't quite fit (they've since fixed the measuring instructions on their website to make them clearer), and they made new ones, no questions asked. I asked if I could send them the old blinds back, they told me that they trusted me and that I should use them elsewhere or give them to charity. Fabulous, right? Love this place.

The Room and Board Anders is fairly similar as well: http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/product/detail.do?productGroup=3043&catalog=room&category=rm_bedrooms&subcategory=dresser, but way pricier than the Malm, of course!

I'd go with a warm grey or a greige with decorator's white trim semi-gloss - BM early morning mist or grey owl for color.

After spending part of a winter in northern Sweden, I completely understand why their rooms are white - everything else is black! Forget 7 hours of daylight...how about zero? Even college kids in Sweden seem to be born with an innate sense of good design. Perhaps Ikea runs in their genes?
