The size of that room and that wall is a challenge. I think you tackled it pretty well. I like the details, the mirror, mismatch between the desk and the chair. I just would love to see another curtain and a different more stylish kind of blinds. Maybe it is already in your to-do list. But in general, kudos!

I was just checking out this house tour and the minimalist bachelor pad. The contrast is amazing. Both are NY homes, but this one is a living being or on its way to that point. I love everything about this place. I think it was a well-worth 18 months of planning. Congrats! I only wish to collect such beautiful art and display them in such a gracious way.

Ohh, and I like the unfinished credenza as it is.

It is not for me, but I see how the space reflects your taste and the way you live and feel in that space, and that's brilliant. Thank you for sharing your home, it's really inspirational and what I expect to see in house tours: real people, real spaces, spaces that feel lived in. Besides I don't know anyone who wouldn't like to spend a night in your gorgeous guest room.

I agree with the idea that you need two-three narrow bookshelves in white and picture frames of different sizes. I wouldn't paint any of the walls because of the size of the room. Instead I would add color with some nice curtains in rich color, maybe green (but most colors will work with your wall paint). Hutch is not a good idea, I would even get rid of the window-side chairs or keep just one. If you get rid of the chairs, lefthand-side corner might be a nice place for a corner (triangle) shelving unit where you display stuff. Beside that I really like the table and chairs, but not the fabric on the chairs.

Pink looks beautiful with the wall color, especially if you add some bright colored pillows -- green or brown. You can all tie in together with black shelves. You can even think about keeping the pink and painting the wooden parts to black to emphasize pink.

I am moving soon, so I had to sell my TV last month. Now that I am watching my favorite shows online, I am not in a hurry to buy a new TV in my new apartment. Plus, thanks to TV-lessness, I discovered the Arrested Development and fell in love with it. You can even watch Remington Steele!

As for special events, i don't watch football and I can go to my friends' Oscar party.

I also thought of blue, bluish green, and grey. I came up with a color palette. Hope you don't mind me naming it Vanessa's Sofa.

I really like this house, original and cozy. One weird observation: is that Buddha sculpture way too heavy for the coffee table behind the sofa or is it the photo? It seems like the table is bent a little bit.

I like the wall color. That is very similar to the color I selected for the accent wall in my bedroom.

I think the reasons people perceive the pictures as not-at-eye-level are the too-low, dusty-looking chairs and as several others suggested the size of the pictures themselves.

As a person who has the symmetry bug, I was hopeful of this post. I thought it would have nice ideas for not over-doing it.

In the White House? Or in a house as big as White House? Yes, sure especially if I am busy leading these United States in "this winter of our hardship." But otherwise no.

My home, my rules.

As someone from the freezing midwest, I won't be able to be as gracious as the east coasters. If I could I would do a lobotomy on mother nature for her to forget about winter. And no I am not whining about the usual like rain, snow etc. I am talking about the kind of situation in which it rains ice and then as soon as the ground is wet, it gets frozen, and then the same cycle repeats 7 times over one night until my street is a scene from winter olympics skating games with really really bad skaters. Ohh gosh, why did you have to remind us that there is sun and warmth somewhere out there?!

A little too much orange for my taste, but good balance with the brick walls and the green. I also want to see more. Especially curious about that giant mirror and that interesting coffee table.

I love everything about this room. Blue, red, that light light brown, clean lines, wood and metal. Great!

I like the light in the room, the coziness and the practical wall table. I agree with Jackie on the necessity of a frame, now that painting looks a little naked. I would also select another, possibly contrasting color for the curtains. Maybe a darker shade of green on the blanket.
