Any suggestions for a small tree (especially a stand for one) or a good alternative to a tree? The living room in my apartment is teeeeny!

Dan was like a reaaaalllly lame version of Carter. HGTV is run amuck with Dans. Antonio's show should be good, producers and assistants will help make his designs more cohesive and polished. I think it will help viewers see that they don't need formal schooling to do good design themselves.
Although, I'd still like to see last year's runner up, Matt, get a show. Jennifer Bertrand's show lasted, what, 2 weeks? "This week, we're really going to liven up the space by painting giant flowers on the walls!"

too small. Cute, though!

I also missed it before, so I (for once!) am glad it got reposted!

Very beautiful and functional end result!

Or, let nature take its course and leave the animal be. Ok, now that that's over, let's get back to APARTMENT stuff!

While I agree it is a nice improvement, making the bed first would have helped a great deal (of course, then the makeover would have been less dramatic). Plus that step is free!

it looks like it went from After to Before! I know that red isn't everyone's cup of tea, but why not another nice color?

definitely an improvement! I would have kept at least some of the top cupboard doors to streamline the look a bit, but I do like all the lighting above and below the cabinets. Definitely helps lighten things up!

I love the shelving unit that divides the two rooms!

gah! I would die with that kitchen! There is hardly any counter space, plus it'd be a pain to actually cook a real meal in there, what with the table between the fridge and the rest of the necessities.

I am into vintage hens-on-nests (both larger one and salts). My grandma collected them for years, and doesn't that Home: History of an Idea book say most people describe comfort as their grandparents' house?

I like the idea of 2 bigger/nicer chairs and then some extra folding chairs. They make much nicer styles nowadays. I've seen wooden ones at Costco and BB&B

I agree with als1 that I may want to have frosted glass, or an alternative to that much transparency.

I love that fork door handle, though!

The view out the window looks pretty nice, without the upside-down flowers blocking it. I don't think I'd ever have the desire to do this in my own home, but if done right, maybe in a storefront window or something. Given as how temporary it is, it just doesn't seem very practical.

Those are super cute, and a clever re-purposing.

I've never seen iron steps before, but now I have something to be on the prowl for!

kittykittymeowmixhead: Here is a similar one at Williams Sonoma. At the store, they usually have a lot more colors and variety in the stock room, since they don't have enough room to showcase it all on the sales floor, so be sure to ask!

I saw an HGTV show once where they blew up a horizontal picture onto banner type 'fabric' at Kinko's, and then mounted them on curtain rods (top and bottom) by sewing the edges to make a track for them, or those poster hangers would work, too. Sorry, I can't find any link to it online, but it would give the same effect as the 2nd example of what you have above.
