Like it. It would look good without the metal hooks, too. The wave on the outside created by the wood where the hooks attach would be more prominent that way.

This is how I want my place to look when I grow up. Love everything about it. And your baby is absolutely adorable. Congratulations on the house and the baby.

Bepsf, I agree that the judging seems inconsistent from week to week. Do they want to see great ideas in an unfinished room, or finished rooms that have been done better before? In defense of the judges though, Bromstad and Myles were able to come up with great ideas and pretty well finished rooms on their turns. So it can be done. Tpgirl, I agree with you that the show treated Tashica shabbily.

Thank you, really, thank all of you for the roll-on-the-floor, gave-myself-a-stomach ache laughter. Some of you should be comics. Melting faces, spiders, soaked possums, burning couches, spirits...I will never complain about my rental again. Thank you.

This has possibilities. Could we see a photo with seated guests?

I took the clothes on my back, an overnight bag, and my scores. One of the difficulties was the fact that my then partner (spouse now) came with a lot of stuff and I came with almost nothing and was still crowded out by someone else's stuff. Lest I became bitter, we've been able to purge the excess on one side and allow a few important pieces on my side. It's working out.

Rebecca, if you are saying, or Vern is saying that the time limits and resources (money, staff, whatever) allowed the competitors are comparable to what the judges and other HGTV designers have at their disposal, then it's not unfair as I thought. Thanks for enlightening me.

All three judges do great work and are quite qualified to judge design. But how can a designer be expected to produced a well-designed and finished room in that short length of time? The judges' comments about time management and finished details are irksome and insulting because they are so unrealistic. It takes weeks, sometimes months to finish a kitchen, and certainly more than 2 days to convert a garage. Is it a design show or a circus?

Tashica probably needed to go. But the judges and her colleagues should have treated her more respectfully. They all fell a couple of notches in my book.

Shows real commitment to the concept. It could use more signs of life; sunlight, more plants, a colorful bunch of flowers, breathable air, something. Other than that, it's perfect for me.

This place has personality. I can't quite figure out how to inject my place with it. Great to see it done so well here.

I was thinking of using several of the inner hoops in different sizes as wall art in a cool configuration, something mod, but really simply and airy. I wasn't going to use the outer hoop with the metal parts. The hoops could be painted before hanging them on the wall. But I prefer the naked wood. It hadn't occurred to me to stretch fabric between the hoops. Nice idea too.

This concept could work to hide some of the clutter on my bookshelves. Might try it.

Last week, I thought Tashica should go. This week, hmm. She may be someone who starts slow and picks up speed. HGTV must have seen something special in her work to win a spot on the show. I want to see what it was.

I'm learning to appreciate how great design can make life easier and enhance one's sense of well-being. Musicians and their instruments reach me so intimately that it's difficult to conceive of instruments as peices of furniture, even as a budding design junkie. No insult meant to anyone who does. It's no disrespect to design to say that a piano is something different from furniture. In my world, a piano's greatest influence is something other than how it looks in a room. Actually, an unloved and unused piano may not be such a great look anyway. Bad chi.

I've used Borax and also vinegar. They both work well without much more elbow grease than traditional products. I've heard that a can of cola works too. Haven't tried it yet.

Usually enjoy these design competitions. But this one will lose my attention fast unless we start seeing fresh concepts, or at least well-executed designs. Tanicha has got to go. Sorry, girl.

We do all our living in our bedroom since we share an apartment and the other mate uses the living space as an office and works all hours. Any tips on creating a relaxing bedroom even when the mini-office, electronics, TV, eating, storage, etc. are all in the bedroom?
