SF is an awesome city, but the East Bay (you mentioned Berkeley) is really fantastic, especially if you're not fantastically wealthy. If you have jobs in the city, it might be a bit of a commute, but it's cheaper, there's MUCH more space, very dog-friendly... the list goes on and on. What I pay for a massive, BART-accessible, dog-friendly two-bedroom apartment in a decent neighborhood in the East Bay would barely get me a cardboard box in SF. I have a sweet-as-anything but terrifying-looking pit bull who lives in my apartment. Truthfully, he'd probably lead a burglar right to the stereo while wagging his tail and wanting pets, but he barks when people come near the front door and looks rather menacing. I don't need a baseball bat. :) Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Do You Keep a Bat Under the Bed? |
