My mom used to fry the liver and gizzards, as well as the neck. I loved the gizzards best of all, but it never occurred to me to peel off the skin - will try that next time. Thanks for the suggestion! Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Chicken Giblets: An Illustrated Guide |

I put white lights on the inside of a wood birdcage - love the effect. Did the same thing in the bathroom with a small plastic see-thru purse. Apartment Therapy New York | Survey: Do You Decorate with Christmas Lights, Year Round? |

An interest letter from the LA Dodgers, to the son of the previous owner, when he was in high school in '86. Not sure what happened afterward, but I also found some articles that said son would not be prosecuted for some questionable union activity, in early '08. Also a porcelain figurine of a shoe, with a "Made in Occupied Japan" inscription. Not worth much (I already checked). Since the house was built in '27, and owned by the same family for just as long, I'm guessing I probably won't find anything worth mentioning. I worked all last summer on my front porch, in my new house. I did find that it was a bit more difficult to work in the yard, unless I was in the shade, because the glare on the laptop screen was alarming. This summer, I'm getting a glare guard. Sounds just like my house in upstate NY - old house, huge yard, original hardwood floors and glass doorknobs, one bathroom, no insulation, and almost everything furnished second-hand (haven't found much with Craig yet, but Freecycle has been a very close friend). I have a similar pen, as well, though I rarely use it. I'm gonna have to try this. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Look! Fingertip Craft Knife |

I'm a woman. I'm mechanically-inclined. I have absolutely nothing to prove. If there are more than five or six pieces, I read the instructions. After one particularly bad experience, I now count all the pieces, including screws, to make sure everything is there *before* I start putting it together. I have a very scratchy rug at the front door, and that's where I take off my shoes. I'm still looking for a better system, though, since I don't have a foyer, and there's absolutely no heat on the front porch, or back mudroom. I'd love to have some sort of shoe storage in the living room, so that I won't have to go out to the porch, and put cold shoes on every day. I bought a bread machine at an estate sale for $20 over the summer, so I'm guessing it's already paid for itself several times over! So far, my favorite is oatmeal bread, and I love the fact that I can just throw in the ingredients, and leave it alone for a couple of hours. It's much tastier than store-bought, and I can control the size of the loaf, or freeze the rest. I can't do mini-loaves, but for $20, I'm okay with that.
