Yes, it took me a long time to choose the hardware. Originally I wanted a very modern chrome tube look but then I didn't want to take away the look of the wood. Then I was going for the old crate look and I was gonna make my own rope handles (seen on the floor) but then I thought that wasn't practical. So I found these simple ones and spray painted them black. I tried filling in the holes with putty, I think it just gives the furniture character.

I'm not going to sell it. It's been in the family for years. I used to be to short to reach the top drawer.

My boyfriend wanted to try sanding. We saved by not buying the paint strip and also we wanted to avoid one more harsh chemical. Since this was my first time, I figured we'd still have to sand after stripping off the paint. The wood was beautiful even without the stain but the stain really made the grain come out. No surface was damaged. It was nice and smooth when we finished.
