I live alone but like the option of closing off the door when I have guests. Makes a difference with th comfort level of how I sleep. I like the idea or something like shoji doors, which could be installed inside the bedroom, provided you do not need those walls to have furniture placed directly against them. I would install them inside and keep them open until I had company. Then voila, privacy while maintaining all that light. It's funny, because the era of Latckey kids was my generation, and I was one of those. There are pitfalls and benefit. If yourkid is ready, there is no reason to keep them trapped by perceived childhood. It's not adult to travel. It's human. You either have a pretty good sense of self in the world or not. I know grown women who are scared to navigate a city on public transit. So I guess if your kid is ready, let them go. I was and nothing happened that did not make me wiser and stronger. Keeping a child a child does not mean keeping them from learning to navigate the world. Part of children's adventures are firsts. First time to ride a bus. First time to play third base. First time to get lost. Etc. Child safety is about prepping them too. Not just keeping them from stuff. I mean whether my kid takes the bus regularly or not, by God I hope I teach them enough to at least know how to get home if there was an emergency. Even at 9. I olike this space, but I think the photos are not very good, the lighting is off or you took photos of areas in the home that are not very interesting. A lovely home, but not a winning entry. Apartment Therapy - #13 - Pearl & Dave's When Color is Thrust Upon You |
