Put down a couple of yoga mats under the air mattress if it's on the floor (so it doesn't slide around when your guests get into bed!). FOR SURE add some padding to the mattress so it doesn't get cold in the middle of the night (pillow top idea). I use an old comforter, then put the fitted sheet right over it. :) Hosting Help: Tips for Sleeping Comfortably on an Air Mattress |

In our small condo we always gave up our bedroom to guests and we slept out in the living room. That way we could get up in the morning, get our breakfast/lunches ready etc without disturbing guests. To get our bedroom ready, I'd change out the bedding and pillows (and I always use mattress covers and special pillow insert covers), get rid of clutter, make it feel less personal so that guests felt like they were at a hotel! Also, I make sure all my pillows/comforters/blankets etc I buy are always machine washable. Why do people think it's strange? Small Spaces: Tips for Hosting Overnight Holiday Guests |

I agree! I hosted Christmas dinner last year in my 700 sq ft condo and was able to seat 10 adults around my table with ease. I brought in my balcony table, lined it up with my dining table, put a big table cloth over both and that was it! Small Space Solutions: Hosting a Dinner Party in a Studio |

Ziso - yes I tried that, and it was really cluttered. You can see some pictures of the evolution of the space on my little informal blog http://bajmahal-design.blogspot.com/2009/04/spring-is-here.html Shereen's Open & Airy |

Thanks everyone! To address some of the questions: Paint colours - can't remember but will find out. Shades - nope didn't make them, purchased from Ikea. Sofa - from the Bay by a Canadian company (can't recall the name right now). Shereen's Open & Airy |
