I think I am drawn more to the graphic quality of it as a wall covering more than as actual functioning outlets.

Just got to ask about your white chair as well. If found the same chair at a second hand store. It was upholstered when I bought it. Then a roommate let her cat claw at it and as a result I discovered that it too is covered in a fabric containing gold threads. Maybe it was mass produced in the same fabric. Now here is my question: How much yardage did you supply for the re-upholstery job and how much did it cost to re-upholster it? You can respond to me via my blog Do you see the chair??

I love this. You could also utilize a few of the pipes in the middle as mail organizers for each person in the house.

I love it. It's clean, it's modern, it's still warm and inviting. Gotta to agree with you too on the kitchen hood/shelves and the bathroom wallpaper.

I am loving those beer glasses, too. Then again they remind me of one of my favorite Fred purchases... my Calf & Half creamer.

I'm right there with you on the whole cleanliness issue. I could see creating a hot pad or placements using the same concept but with fewer layers and possibly in multiple colors instead.

I have to agree with so many of the comments above such as painting the back panel of the bookshelves (or adding a new panel if you don't want to paint them). I'd suggest a blue similar to that in the stained glass or the art to the left of the window to tie them in and add some more color. I also think that adding sheers to the windows will help to soften the space and remove a little of the weight from all the wood (it is beautiful though).

I'd leave the top white or paint an inset black border leaving a white border around it as well.

I would contact Domino and see if they can tell you. They are usually very helpful.

I'd check out foamorder.com for situations when you can't just go back to IKEA for replacement cushions.

I have to agree with the IKEA TOBIAS chair. I think they compliment the table without taking away from it at all.

In regards to the posting for the two leather cube ottomans... I used to work at Evolution and we carried both American Leather cubes (same as DWR) as well as cheaper ones from Orient Express (http://www.orientexpressfurniture.com) which were only in the $150-$200 range.

My guess is that these could easily be the Orient Express ottomans from the description. I am only warning you because the construction and leather does not compare to those from American Leather/DWR.

I recently worked at IKEA for a few years as a visual merchandiser and I can say the prices reflect the quality of the products or the materials used in them. There are certainly some that seem high for what they are, but really... $249 for a vanity? high? That's just as much as many women pay for a hand bag.

I certainly suggest checking each piece out closely. If you really want something that will last for many years, IKEA really isn't the place but neither is the IKEA price tag. You can also keep an eye out for one of the design team - usually in white and gray t-shirts that say "Communications and Interior Design". They tend to have the best all around knowledge of the store and products.
