Definitely a winner! I love every little corner of the place. Well done.

Would love to see more photos of the place and read more about it.

I would imagine after so 11 months of working on the house, a treat would be to leave the house for one of those ideas listed.

I have been having trouble letting go of stress which is affecting my sleep. Thus I love the list of treats including the luxurious bath, playing games on a weeknight, and actually going to a movie instead of streaming one online.

I use chia seeds in my smoothie each morning since I'm not a fan of the taste of flax seed and chia seeds have more omega 3's than flax. I like your idea of adding some greens so I'll try that as well.

I live 2 hours from the closest IKEA (Schaumburg, IL) and my friends and I enjoy our trips there three times a year on Saturdays. We arrive during the half hour before opening when the cafe is open so that we can plan our purchases. We take our lists, split up and shop, and meet back at the not-too-busy registers within an hour or two; eat lunch nearby and compare purchases; hop in the car for the quick 2 hour ride home; done by 3 PM.

I agree with: entering in the exit doors when the store is open; finding just the areas you want on the map and making a beeline for those sections; having a cart to prevent groups from jostling you out of the way if you're just carrying a bag; doing research ahead of time to see if the store has the items available.

I look forward to those IKEA trips and sense it's time for another one very soon.

I love reading all the replies! I'd been mulling over revamping my morning routine to make it less hectic and here are dozens of people whose lives I get to learn from!

Last week (ahem..the last 8 years) my routine has been to sleep as long as possible (until 6 or 7 AM) then rush around getting ready (shower, wash face, brush teeth, get dressed, do makeup, do hair - look presentable), make a breakfast smoothie to go and rush out to my car by 7:40 AM for a 16 minute commute to work. (the "extra" 4 minutes in there covers slow drivers ahead of me and a possible stop at a train crossing)

This morning I tried something new. I got up with my alarm at 5:30, was showered and trying to wake up by 6 AM, made a smoothie and watched a show from the DVR until 7 AM, finished getting ready and left at 7:30 for work...arrived early.

Now I see the appeal of waking up early to have time to wake up before going to work - instead of waking up at work and being fully functioning by 9 or 10 AM.

I just added The Secret of the Kells to my instant queue on Netflix and saw an expiration date next to it. The movie won't be available after October 5, 2012. I'm chatting with their help person now, and she states the movie will be gone after that but may reappear at some point.

My last move from one apartment to another one 15 miles away was 1 hour 20 minutes (including 15 minutes of drive time). When people showed up to help that morning, I showed them where the boxes were all stacked - and the guys who wanted to move furniture went up the stairs to find all the furniture waiting in a few otherwise-empty rooms. In 45 minutes, we were on our way to the new place. Once there, the unloading/bringing in of boxes and furniture took 35 minutes. (I had 32 small to medium boxes plus living room, bedroom and dining room furniture.)

My hints for a quick, organized move include:
*set up a moving supplies box or basket (packing tape, markers, labels, and scissors.) and items get returned to the Moving Box after every packing session. Result: No chasing around for packing supplies.
*Designate an area (if possible) for the moving boxes to stack up. I chose my foyer. Then the goal became to pack and clear each room. Result: I could see progress as each room emptied out.
*Accept help from friends. I used to be too proud to accept help - but this time, I accepted all kinds of help - moving boxes from one friend, the offer of a meal on moving day from another, trucks from guys who had them, packing time from someone who would be gone on moving day....
*Clearly label where each box goes in the new place. Result: each person carrying a box knew just where to put it. No confusion.

Setting Up Home: Moving Checklist
8/10/12 3:44 PM

@seawallrunner - I echo the idea of inviting friends over. The day I moved into my current place (five years ago), I had such great friends (12 of them!) who split themselves up into helping me move from the old place and the rest were at the new place to coordinate where boxes went and setting up the kitchen*. These friends insisted on helping me set up every room in the apartment, so within an hour of my moving in, it looked like I'd lived there for months. We ate lunch a friend had simmering in the crockpot all morning and then played games until midnight - ordering in pizza for dinner (pizza does seem like home!).

The move into the previous place wasn't as quick but I had arranged to have friends over for dinner 48 hours after the movie, so I had an incentive to be as unpacked and settled in as possible.

*I later rearranged the kitchen so that it felt like "mine" and not the friend who set it up.

How to Make it Yours: The First Things to Do in a New Home

@PI - The photo (above) taken near the end of the long desk is taken by the closet. The photos on the Pioneer Woman's blog (http://thepioneerwoman.com/homeandgarden/2011/11/the-girls-room/) show that the bedroom door opens into a short hallway and then you would enter the room proper...and there's room behind the desk chair even pulled out - and room for walking between the chair and the bed.

I loved the reveal (I saw the show) and would have been thrilled with a bedroom like this as a teen. The beds were my favorite part; I found the linens and pillows to be so very pretty. The carpet tiles were a surprising touch but not bad. I was happy to see on the show that Bob and Cortney found many accessories at a local antique/resale shop...which has me inspired to find accessories around me in my small town vs. finding trending things online.
