I've lived in Los Angeles for 25 years. I've lived in Toluca Lake, Hollywood and Downtown and i visit friends and family in Manhattan often and I don't see why people keep saying Downtown LA is hellish or anything else. This apartment is overpriced by about $400 but considering the building and it's location to Ralph's, The farmer's market, the standard, the library, Disney concert hall, very nice restaurants and the subway it's not that bad. There are also about 4 hospitals in the Downtown area as well as the largest fashion district in the world (yes the entire world).

Downtown LA has a lot of cosmetic problems but it is actually one of the safest neighborhoods in LA, and the most walkable. In the valley and everywhere else it is impossible without a car.
