I loathe winter. The only good things are that I can bake more and I can knit bigger items that feel warm while they're resting on me.

Nice, open space. When you're newly married, you can live without walls or privacy.

One thing I'd do is change "blinfold" to "blindfold" on the chalkboard. That really stands out to me.

Does that vintage television work?

I have a retractable clothes line on the outdoor patio, one in the garage, and I use several clothing racks in my office to line-dry clothes. If I use a machine to dry everything, I have to replace my clothing too often.

They may already be planning to sell the home but, since they're underwater with the mortgage, need to bring a check to closing. Selling off all the household items will help fund that.

I hope this helps them get out from under oppressive debt. I also hope that they don't repeat the past and get stuck again.

In my next life, when I live completely alone, I want a studio apartment. Ah, simplicity.

Nice place.

Is it just me or are the apartments on AT getting bigger and bigger?

Great tips! Especially about setting up in the bathroom first. I'd have some cleaning supplies in the starter box so I could disinfect the bathroom(s) first thing.

Yeah, open all your boxes soon. We left a ton of boxes unopened in the garage for about a month. It's amazing how the fatigue and stress of moving will make you forget all about the stuff that's still packed away.

When you say you just can't sell it, do you mean that you've tried to sell it and no one will buy it? If that's the case you probably just need to lower the price.

I'm a quilter and have never heard of anyone using wedding dress fabric in a quilt. Interesting idea. Using non-cottons in quilt tops can be challenging. You might want to get several opinions from experienced quilters about this.

The baptism gown idea is adorable. Much better than trying to pass down a wedding gown to your daughter (who will want her own dress, most likely). Make sure you have plenty of photos of the dress before it's altered in any way. :)

This place looks so much bigger than 680 sq ft.

I think what gives it a spacious feel is that it's furnished enough and decorated enough without going overboard. Too empty or too full makes a house look smaller. The right balance was hit here.

The craft room is awesome. There's plenty of inspiration around but it's also very well organized. I'd be a bit cramped sewing at that machine, but maybe it gets moved when in use?

We chose not to have children and that helps somewhat. The friends we invite over are childfree, too, so there have never been kids in my house since I've owned it.

Dogs are trainable so no problem there.

I LOVE all these responses about teaching children not to act like heathens in the house. That's how I was brought up and my parents (who raised six kids) always received compliments on their well-kept home. We kids were allowed to have fun but not wreck the place.

I agree w/crayfish and bepsf. The best solution is to sell the sectional so you're not a slave to it and move to an apartment with a better layout (for your needs). Better to avoid conflicts before they start up.

I gotta ask...does your husband's brother absolutely, positively have to move in with you? Because that's not a great situation for a young couple regardless of the floor plan. Could you help your BIL some other way? Just trying to come up with other ideas here. :)

Wood walls are something you love or hate. I LOVE them because they are cozy without being too dark. They give a natural woodsy feel to a home.

This is a lovely home except for the snow outside. ;)

That's a galley-style kitchen. Can't say I've ever heard of a "gallery style" kitchen. Hmmm...

Unless your current fluorescent overheads are impossible to fix up somehow, I'd leave them and put the brightest bulbs possible in them. Kitchens are so dark these days.

I love track lighting anywhere except kitchens. They get dusty and grimy really fast there. If you do install them, please get into a weekly ritual of cleaning them or they'll be totally gross.

I'm really not all that fastidious, but I've seen some really ickified kitchen lighting since everyone got into the hanging-lamps-in-the-kitchen thing lately.

I've never understood the appeal of mint green anyplace. It always looks more chemical than natural to me.

Does mint/baby green flatter anyone's skin tones?

Isn't nearly a million dollars for a place this small in Brooklyn a bit high? Staging isn't everything.

This house is so neat, clean and organized and the neutral paint colors just emphasize that. The different shades on different walls/areas really make the architectural details pop.

Nice windows, too. Gray can look dingy if there isn't enough light in the house, but this place doesn't have that problem at all.

I love the coffee table (in living room) and my husband would adore that plane prop.

I love 1930's bungalow-style houses anyway, but Sean and Ami have made this one especially lovely.

Great call keeping the walls white. The woodwork and windows make it interesting enough without tons of wall color. This home is nicely decorated without being cluttered. The living room cabinet is perfect there.

I absolutely adore the ripple afghan in the bedroom. A house isn't really a home without a ripple afghan in it (it's the law, or should be).

Otis is so cute I just want to smoosh his face. We can tell that he loves his home, too.

Terrific use of lighting and mirrors to open up the space. This apartment seems more spacious than many places over twice its size.

I agree w/first poster that switching the icebox door hinges around would make life easier in the kitchen. Small fix but huge improvement.

If designers are going to use that vivid a shade of green, the items they make shouldn't be so hideously ugly. And overpriced.

That said, I love green!
