Ours (1st generation) lives on the kitchen counter, where my husband uses it to check the weather obsessively (hay making time, sap season, sailing—always a reason) and to check his e-mail (he has no computer at home). When I'm cooking, I toggle between Pandora for music and Evernote for recipes. One of us is always looking something up or seeing where we can order something. I have a big Mac Pro upstairs, but I only use it now when I have serious work to do. And when kids come over, they sniff out all the games on it.

I don't throw away my wire hangers. I either use them for my clothes, or make stuff out of them.

Why are wire hangers bad for the environment? (And I don't care which I use, by the way.)

I've loved it every time it's been featured on AT. I'd consider doing a small chunk of it, like behind some shelving.

Actually I think I might like the templates so much, I'd leave them hanging instead. I'll try not to get too attached.

The other thing about Envirosax is that they roll up to about the size of your fist and snap closed with small attached straps/snaps. No little bags to lose or get in the way.

I still have the first ones I bought (maybe 5 years ago?) and they're going strong, though I've bought a few more because I liked them. I'm not sure when they'll be ready to get rid of.

Envirosax hold 40 lbs. If you get a set of five on (frequent) sale at Brightandbold.com, they're cheaper than Baggu or Chico. They've got a really nice variety of colors and patterns. I'm addicted.

I use my reusable bags all the time, and wash them when they need it (usually after I've carried meat in them, or if they've been folded up for a while and smell musty). There's no ban on and no charge for disposable bags where I live; I'd support a charge.

It doesn't use the space more efficiently, as many commenters have already pointed out, but being able to bring stuff out into the light is a big plus. We have one of those corner cupboards with no lazy susan or drawers of any sort, and it's just a big cave and I hate it. I might try the staggered shelf solution someone mentioned, though.

We each do what we like to do, and the rest of the stuff (which neither of us likes) ends up getting split, unofficially. None of it gets counted or measured. Probably lessons learned from unsuccessful first marriages.

We just put a new microwave with a light and fan above the stove and now have more counter space, though it looks like with your cool exhaust fan you wouldn't want to go that route. Where I used to live, I put it on top of the refrigerator and that didn't bother me at all (small refrigerator, so it wasn't a stretch). I don't really think it's an either/or decision.

I've used the orange version in a ham glaze recipe from Cook's Illustrated that calls for orange marmalade.

I find tablecloths easier to deal with than placemats—I just throw the whole thing in the washer.

Yoboseyo, I didn't mean to claim that my Staples chair was an Aeron knockoff; it's just a contemporary office chair from Staples. It's comfortable and blah-looking.
