I adore this tool! Bought it for help in making pie crusts, but now I use it to divide dough (fabulous for scones), scooping veggies and it can even double for a spatula. Apartment Therapy The Kitchen | Handy Kitchen Tool: The Bench Scraper |

Thanks for this book! It has been bugging me for years and I could not remember the name. In grade school the teacher read this book and we all had to make our own dictionary with delicious foods for A-Z. Wow! What a great find! I'd love to know if anyone has used the eggshells. I've got a bunch of old recipies from my greatgrandma and she writes about using eggshells when making large vats of coffee at the church. I think it is supposed to make the coffee taste less bitter. Might be a Swedish thing. Apartment Therapy The Kitchen | Cowboy Coffee: Boiled with Eggshells |

I'm in Seattle as well and when I bought my condo it had the same taupey walls that were really dark. There are so many shades of white that could work -- I would go to Miller paints in Ballard and get the Devine samples and grafetti the walls to see what color works best. I used icing (a cool white) and vanilla (a warm white). Apartment Therapy San Francisco | SF Good Questions: White Walls With These Floors? |

For Christmas gifts (yes, I know they are REALLY late) I've been doing subversive cross stitch and then plan to make them into pillows. Well, my mom will make them into pillows cause the cross stitch is as craft as I get! Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | January Jumpstart: Making Pillows |

HonoluluSu -- I agree, the bagless vacuums are such a pain. Especially my last one which had a HEPA filter which I had to bang against the garbage to get rid of the dust and hair on it every time I emptied the canister. Woosh -- dust in the face. Ugh. My problem with CFL is that they do not work for dimming. The majority of my lights dim and I've tried to use CFLs, however they flicker something awful. Any suggestions to deal with that issue? Apartment Therapy - Blogging Mother Earth News... Reason and Lighting |

Wow, I didn't realize I was so tech savy but I'm one of the three out of ten woman that actually enjoys talking about HDTV. In fact I've had to educate my (male) friends who had not set up their TVs correctly and thought they were viewing in HD when they were not! HDMI cable is a glorious thing. I would go with red curtains -- mirror the lipstick on the print. It would definitely add to the room, and if the color is dark enough shouldn't detract from the bedspread/print focal points. So long as you don't have a heater below the window I would also go with full lenght curtains rather than short ones. Good Questions: Curtains for this Bedroom? |

One option for the seating -- instead of chairs think about using a bench. If you get it slightly smaller than the table legs then it can go under the table when not in use, become a seat in the living room or with a longer bench you can use it as a coffee table. I have a combo living/dining room and I use my bench as a coffee table with a cushion to make it fit the table. Good Questions: Open kitchen in search of of functional makeover |

I have friends who refuse to use my microwave to reheat anything (something about the radiation) -- but they use the convention oven feature. I'm willing to risk radiation for the ease of use -- and Hulk was always one of my favorite comic guys! Good Question: How Can I Re-Heat Without A Microwave? |

I'll bring this up from a lower thread in hopes of some good suggestions! With summer weather approaching and windows/doors being left open, what do you do when the neighbors smoke? My balcony is right next to my neighbor's, and she is a chain smoker (along with her boyfriend). Having a west facing apartment it gets warm so I like to leave the balcony door open in the evening, but then the smell of smoke permiates my living room. Any suggestions? Open Thread 58 |
