I always make something that they can eat that night, but that also freezes well, so they can put the leftovers in the freezer. I also make a dozen pb&j sandwiches to put in the freezer, because some days you just know that if there's no a sandwich already made, the new mom is just not going to eat lunch. Here's the thing, when both parents work you're always in a rush, too rushed to let the kids do the work, and when you're not in a rush you'd rather be doing something fun with your kids. We were in this spot and I couldn't figure out how to get us out of it. I'm slowly making progress but it required not replacing our cleaning lady after she retired. Because the house no longer magically cleans itself while we're all at work or school, we have no choice but to all pitch in and "git er done." It's not quite as clean as it used to be, but my 10 yr old son can now do his own laundry, vacuum, dust, and mop floors. My 5 yr old daughter can sweep, clean the tub, and empty the trash. If you're worried about lead poisoning, move. Or have professional abatement done. (Which cost my SIL over $40,000 and 4 weeks in a hotel.) You do not want to expose your kids to lead, period. Do You Use an Air Purifier in the Nursery? |

Somewhere in the house, you need something that rocks. There will be days, the first cold for example, when your baby can't sleep unless you're holding and rocking him and won't stop crying unless you're holding and rocking him. Bouncing on the corner of the bed is a great workout, but you can't do it for 24 hours straight! Is a Glider or Rocker a Nursery Necessity? Nesting a Nursery |

All four walls and the ceiling are wood in my kids' rooms. It makes them very cozy. I also have no qualms about putting nail holes in the wood, so it has not limited my decor choices. The only drawback seems to be that spiders love wood. Trend Watch: Wood Paneling in the Nursery |

I'd like to know more about the firebox in the living room. Is it truly woodburning or is it gas? If gas, was it custom? Who is the manufacturer? Thanks! Jim & Theresa's House on the Venice Canal House Tour |

Everyone tells you to "sleep when the baby sleeps," but I flipped it...I napped when the baby nursed (about 45 minutes) and worked when the baby napped (about 2 hours). I sat up in a glider with a boppy pillow while nursing. If I wasn't tired (yeah, right) I caught up on reading...no ipad or kindle back then, but that would have made one-handed reading so much easier. Also, the boppy pillow works better if you add long ties or velcro to the ends and tie/fasten it around your back. It'll stay put better. Laptop Stand For Breastfeeding Mom? Good Questions |

You can make banana slices in heart shapes, too. Peel the whole banana, then cut a v-shaped notch all the way down the inside-concave length. Shave the banana into a pointed edge along the opposite length and slice. Your slices will be heart-shaped! You're the Bomb! 5 Cute, Kid-Friendly Treats for Valentine's Day |

Made it for the big game and it was a hit. The sauce smells alot spicier than the meat turns out to taste, which was OK for my crowd but might be disappointing if you were looking for something with kick. Maybe less beef stock would help. Recipe to Feed a Crowd: Slow Cooker Barbacoa Beef |

I would add, as the kids get older and the clothes are less onesie and more "outfit," especially for girls, it helps to fold the entire outfit together into one bundle. My daughter is the 5th girl to get our extended family's hand-me-downs and I love that my SIL keeps each outfit, including socks and hair clips, all together. Tips For Organizing Baby Clothes |

Instapaper. Lets you bookmark things in the cloud, so you have them on your laptop/desktop, ipad, phone, etc. You can choose to read the pages on the web or download as text to your device. You can organize the bookmarks into folders. I have a folder for work, one for researching my travel destinations, one for recipes, etc. Well worth the few dollars it costs.
