While I agree that the cans pictured show one can with an upside down label, there are brands of tuna that do indeed open from the bottom.

See here: http://www.cloverleaf.ca/en/products/category/flavoured-tuna/

These Clover Leaf flavoured tuna cans have a peel-off tin foil lid on the bottom.

The unflavoured tuna, salmon, crab. etc. come in larger tins and open from the top (requiring a can opener).

In this case, I think the flavoured tuna opens from the bottom so it can release easily from the can and be put on a plate in solid form to dip crackers in.

1/2 cup honey in a recipe recommended to diabetics? Hell no. That's more than a teaspoon of honey in each cookie--not to mention the sugar in the banana, which is one of the highest-sugar fruits around.

As a type 1 diabetic for 12 years, I can tell you: those cookies are kryptonite.

There is no "diabetic diet." If you want a cookie, your options are: (a) eat one and exercise and watch your sugar closely or (b) don't eat one.

"Diabetic" recipes are bulls---.

Substituting marzipan for almond paste

I want to make these tasty-looking amaretti cookies from Smitten Kitchen . I bought a tube of almond paste (it says "almond paste" on the side), but when I got home, I noticed that the tube also says "marzipan."

I know that marzipan has more sugar than almond paste, so I should reduce the 1 cup of sugar called for in the recipe, but by how much?

The marzipan contains 180g of sugar in a 227g (8 oz) tube, which makes it 79% sugar. How much sugar does almond paste have?

I would appreciate any input. I want to make sure I remove enough sugar; I'd rather have less sweet cookies than tooth-achingly sweet ones. Thanks.

I made these yesterday, and had a lot of chocolate left over (probably 4 oz or so). I made the filling in my food processor.

I am planning to use the leftover chocolate to coat peanut butter-flavoured patties (omitting the mint extract and replacing the butter and some of the cream with peanut butter).
