Hey guys, these are all some great suggestions! I'm in the middle of doing some of the changes. It might take a little while due to budget constraint, but I'll definitely post pics as I go along. I'm in the process of painting the dresser black/brown to match the side tables. I bought a hemnes mirror. And I bought a roman blind to put on the bookcase to cover up the books (see below).

Here are some responses to a few comments (sorry if they're blunt :-P):

Small Canvas/Metal set of drawers...I need it for beauty supplies but I can store in the closet. I just found out husband can purge some of his stuff...yes! Just have to wait for him to start cleaning it out ::ahem:: But for now stuff is on the floor in the meantime.

Over the door hooks...right now the closet has over the door hooks for the shoes but we leave the closet open because it won't close with those. I'll look into some of the suggestions people posted about boxes and closet units.

Trunk I store linens in so I don't want to get rid of it right now. But it could definitely be moved.

We have a closet in the hall, but a lot of it is full of photo equipment, coats, suitcases (separated by a shelf which has filing equipment, craft supplies, iron, etc).

My husband likes to sleep on the outside, and so do I, and both of us feel claustrophobic when we're on inside. I've tried the bed against the wall and it just doesn't work.

Agree that some things need to be moved around and I could possibly get rid of the bookshelf, but right now can't afford $500 storage units (yet). For the time being, I have to make due with what I have as far as furniture and either paint it, move it, or work with it. I don't want to part with the books because some are photo books (expensive), some are husband's books, some are, novels. I've already gone through my stuff over and over to get rid of things, but if I know I'll use them again I don't want to get rid of them because that's a waste of money.

I did buy a roman blind that I'm going to try to install and maybe some blinds (still don't know where I'm going with it, but the consensus on these comments seems to be do something with the books).

Thanks again, everyone! I'll update you on how it all goes.
