Wow, I love the design. Talk about turning around a less than stellar looking kitchen.

I have no use for this as I'm not planning on doing any entertaining, but it is a lovely idea.

Wait till I tell my sister, we both love martinis for this exact reason. I know what I'm bringing for Christmas.

I've just recently become interested in using stevia, but don't really foresee myself completely giving up real sugar. Like XavierN, I think the best option is probably to regulate your sweet tooth, rather than try to tease out which sweetener is healthiest.

As far as taste though, I'll second m_dow, stevia tastes a lot like artificial sweeteners to me.

This sounds lovely. My head isn't quite able to conjure up what plum and sage together tastes like, but I love both and I love rye whiskey so I think it's a go.

Wow, weirdest comment thread ever.

The original article says "When I walk past the stacks of art at Target or IKEA, it always seem like a shame to buy mass produced art."

Commenter #2 says ""[I]t always seem like a shame to buy art." Why? Do you hate artists?"

And everything devolves from there into what is "real" art and derides the OP for a DIY project.

Hey "real artists" or lovers of "real art" how bout you actually read the post before you make obnoxious comments.

"Kaete" tried to make this point, and I don't know what happened after that.

It took 15 comments before someone noticed that the 2nd commenter quoted the OP wrong.

/facepalm

Yeah, definitely having salivary issues. Cheese is a topic where I have lots to learn. But luckily, the cure for that is to eat more cheese. :) Can't wait to try out some of the suggestions.

@LauraJane Yes! Making this to rim cocktail glasses just might have to convinced me to actually try this.

I'll add snake plant (also known as mother-in-law's tongue, but I love my MIL so I don't call it that) and heartleaf philodendron. I've had both for around half a year now. Just water once a week. The philodendron is going crazy. And it's real easy to take cuttings to make your plant fuller or share with friends. (A coworker gave me mine.) :)

I would love to have that kitchen. And the nook! The handles are a bit of a distraction, but overall it's a win.

I've never heard of this before. When we had leftover biscuits my mom would cut them in half, butter them, and toast them in the oven. I like them more than the freshly-baked biscuits.

This does sound like a fun alternative. Guess I'll be making biscuits this weekend.

I don't have any new advice to add, but did want to encourage Sonja to not give in just yet. Like anything else in cooking it takes some time to learn how to do/use things properly. I've been cooking with stainless steel pans for a few years now and don't really have problems. However, most people who come over and use them do. You already know all the standard advice, you just need to get used to your tools.
