I actually did this about two years ago! Though instead I bought really cheap Barbie dolls, which I then dismembered and sprayed black. Bought shadow boxes, dressed the "dress forms", and hung them in my daughter's room! The doll clothes are vintage clothes that my grandmother made for my mother's dolls. I used them as well. They had been sitting in my cedar chest and I was wanting to find a way to showcase how fabulous they are.

We've put Mommy an Daddy's height on there too. That's why it goes up to 7 feet. Daddy is 6'7".

I think most of the commenters so far have missed the point. I thought the writer was talking about older children, not toddlers. Yet every commenter so far has talked about toddlers getting hurt in scenarios they should not be in. A three year old down a slide wetted with a hose? That is a bad idea. Toddlers playing on steel playgrounds sans supervision- another bad idea.

My daughter is 3 and has had 2 broken legs and a broken arm. All from things that shouldn't have caused a break. Sliding off a couch, tripping on a rug, falling off of a stool. All witnessed by Mom. I help her at the playground. She's never been hurt there. She's just a complete klutz. Granted, they think one of the arm and leg breaks (within 2 weeks of one another) was an uncommon presentation of her leukemia.

I still don't think playground should be litigated and fear-mongered into complete boredom. If you think the playground is too dangerous for your child, don't let them play on it.

I should clarify- I know you can save them as a pdf (just click print and then print it as a pdf). I just wasn't sure how large I would end up being able to make it, and I wanted to be able to have a little fun moving things around to my exact tastes. I wasn't sure I wanted to try to figure all that out using a pdf.

My husband works at a university. We took it to the visual arts lab on campus.

As for the size- I had to recreate it. (there are probably other ways, but I'm not tech savy enough) I used photoshop because, at first I was going to try to print it at walmart. I had no idea what else I could use and have it remain reasonably priced (for me). I soon realized, however, that the resolution was going to be horrible and they wouldn't allow a larger file.

I should have used illustrator, but if you save your file large enough, photoshop should work.

This is funny- I just used wordle to make a tag cloud for my daughter. I had friends and relatives write us words they use to describe my little girl. I pumped them into wordle and had it professionally printed. 7 bucks for the print and 5 for the frame.

While I agree, I feel as though at this stage in my daughter's development I can't praise her enough (she's 2). I tell her why I think what she's done is great. It isn't just, "Wonderful!".

Should I be using a different approach already? If not, when do I begin to transition?

One roommate who, during the hot (100 degrees ) summer months, would walk around the house soaking wet in her bathing suit after her life guard gig and yell at us for having the AC on. Cause didn't we realize it made her arthritis flare up?

Another who left milk in fridge, went out of town for a month, then lost it when said milk wasn't in the fridge when she returned. Also left ugly note when we experienced a rendezvous mix up saying she hoped we'd died because there was not other excuse for not showing up (we'd almost gotten in a car accident on the way).

A father of a roommate who would walk into our house unannounced, sans knocking. Same roommate would store full trash bags in her room and then take them out periodically.

Another who would come into my room at night when she got home from work to "talk" (read talk at me) about all the people she worked with that I didn't know at all. For hours and hours every night. I took to quickly shutting off the light when I heard the door open. It didn't work.

Worst of the worst: NEVER flushed the toilet. Ate all my food all the time. Her fiancee would come over when she wasn't there to use our other roommate's computer to look at porn. Same fiancee stole my and the other roommate's swimsuits (really there is NO OTHER explanation- we've tried to come up with some). They ended up calling off the engagement but that didn't prompt her to start flushing the toilet.
