Unless moving in together means that I magically stop getting my period, I'll be hanging on to those ratty granny panties.

I just bought a horse head lamp that was a gross brown color and spray painted it white. It came out great and was super easy. I think you should go for it!

I bought mint recently at a farmer's market. I left it on the windowsill in my kitchen until I could get around to planting it. The next day the entire plant was SWARMING with ants. At least a hundred ants. It was disgusting.

So yeah, I don't know that I believe this whole "mint repels ants" thing.

I have a couple of Molly Mutt "dog duvets" and I love them. Super cute and super durable. My favorite of the two is this mustard yellow with the dog portrait print: http://www.mollymutt.com/shop/dog-duvets/pictures-of-you-round

Maybe you could get away with a light color paint only *above* the chair rail? I like the green, and the dark color keeps the radiators from being as noticeable as they would be against a light color.

Maybe use it as a media room / library? When I was a girl I always wanted a window seat to sit and read at. Just a comfy chair with a floor lamp and a side table next to some book cases would work.

I also noticed that the ceiling molding only goes partially across the room. Perhaps you could use this quirk to your advantage and split the area into two zones (reading nook and a board game table, for example) using the cutoff point of the molding and a rug to help differentiate between the two areas.

Hardwood floors are a must for me. And conveniently, searching for hardwoods on apartment listing sites ends up ruling out all of the cookie cutter complexes.

Washer / dryer is a must-have as well. I hate lugging my laundry out into public.

Speaking of organizing condiments, I like to use leftover six-pack containers for this and really geek out and match the beer brand to the condiments.

For instance, I'll use a PBR box to corral ketchup, mustard, steak and barbeque sauce. For items like soy sauce, sesame oil. fish sauce, gyoza dipping sauce, and siracha I'll use Tiger or Kirin. And Peroni boxes are great for jars of sundried tomatos, roasted peppers, balsamic vinegar, and pesto.

It makes it easy to grab everything you need for whatever your cooking. Grilling out? Reach for the PBR box. Making stir fry, that's the Tiger box. Cooking burritos? Grab the Coronas box.

Regarding #4 - why wouldn't you just tape the magnets to your desk and lose the binder clips? I don't see what they're doing, except to make the whole set-up more visible.
