at work we pull the meat off of approximately 20 rotisserie chickens daily for the salad bar. i always save the wishbones because when i was a kid they seemed precious! just ask your salad bar person at whole foods to save the wishbones!

the smell of onions sauteeing to start a meal is instant hominess to me.

when i worked at wild oats, we made a carribean sweet potato salad, which started with sweet potato fries with paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper. then the dressing was mayo and white vinegar with the same spices, plus bunches of scallion and red pepper. we usually ate a lot of the fries before they became a salad.

those little figurines on the cake are awful in themselves. they might as well be thick-lipped african american figurines for god's sake. I will never understand why so many people seem to make some sort of exception for racism when it deals with natives.
