I agree with using the space as both living and dining (unless you own, then just take out the wall that separates) one space saving idea if you use the dining room table in the main room, try using a bench instead of chairs on the wall side of the table also, using good sized dining room table chairs in the middle of the room opposite the couch, face them towards the couch for entertaining and you can just turn them around and move up to table when dining. another idea i love that my godmother has in her house is using a scaled down couch on one side of a large round table, it sounds weird but looks great when the pieces are matched right. bottom line get some good pain reliever and just start moving things around until you find something that works! on the bar idea, i think, if you looked really hard, you could find a small rolling cart to fit in there (you might luck out with finding a cart meant for a bathroom) places glasses for the bar there. then use the top part for a bar and put a shelf in for pictures, etc. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Good Questions: Ideas for TV Alcove? |

does anyone have suggestions on how to frame things like those posters? i recently bought my brother some big pages from a 50's school reading chart ("Jack ran fast, he ran faster than the other boys, Jack ran the fastest.") we have been debating how to frame them for hanging, they removed the spiral top but we both would like to leave the holed top of the page exposed. i like the t-shirt idea. would also be cute in kids bedroom if you used different pick ribbons for girls and greens or blues for boys. there is a lot you could use with this idea! Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Make This Headboard For Less Than $60! |

i say tell them to forgo sending us a sub-in and send our money to Martha (god save me for saying that) and get Blueprint back up. i think it picked up where Domino departed from thrify, affordable home styling... i heard the sub-in magazine is CatFancy. just kidding. i too am sad, i give subscriptions to friends for christmas. it has been going downhill and the website doesn't offer anymore than the mag. i have always felt a website should be kind of like a supporting piece providing updates, etc. i will keep all mine to show my children someday what "magazines" were. i say to each his/her own!! i recently moved my bed and put it (with headboard) against my bedroom windows. i wake up more peacefully with the sun (a few minutes before my alarm clock) and my bed is opposite the door. i have been sleeping better than ever!! similarly there is a store called Tuesday Morning (i know there are locations in TX, not sure where else). good place to get bath and bedding at a cheap price! especially if you are okay with mixing and matching. usually have higher end brands as well. happy matching!
