Wow- exposed brick- I would die for that... move the couch out of the way (that is what makes the room small) use a masonry drill to hang a large mirror to balance the side with the large opening... do NOT paint it... bring the rust and charcoal color of the bricks into your design elements with accent pieces, throws or pillow is that color.... if you make the fireplace a focal point and move the couch out from in front of it it will make the entire room more open... and get rid of the teeny crooked picture on the thin side... sheesh!!!!!!

why not just reglaze the tiles? inexpensive and would waaaaaaaaaaay tone down the offensiveness on the eyes.... also agree with the comment on the toilet seat-- blue would be an improvement... the shower curtain is quirky - i get that- but the neon pink towels clash with the unpleasant rosey colored tiles that are everywhere...

Reglaze the tiles, replace the tub/toilet & Sink, remove the dated medicine cabinet and the horrible wall paper-- with a clean pallette you can do sooo much more PLUS will help resale value a TON and is less expensive then a full demo... Also I would splurge on either a vessel sink or granite for the sink to bring it up to par!

450-600 bucks is more than enough to pay for a stager for your home and they would do more than one room

color is pretty offensive- if you are committed to it you need to add pillow to the wingback chair and MSM chair that incorporate the wall color & Blue or wall color and red... also a throw blanket that incorporates the color might help.. one last thought some larger more vibrant wall art that incorporates the vibrant red, green wall color and blue in a non christmas-y way might help...

too much stuff is on the shelves and it feels very flat and boxy-- maybe try staggering shelving or just clear them off a bit... also the pix are neat- but add to the cluttered feeling

I would fit in a recessed mirror- then it would look like a fantastic framed art piece - as opposed to an ackward closed off door with shelving chiling in it.

My hubby, 2 pugs and I downsized from a 2,000 sq ft house with 4 beds, 2 baths and 2 stories to our current fabulous place right in the heart of DC and only about 600 sq ft. We actually use the space we have now so much more efficiently than we used our bigger place and we spend so much more time outside of the house that is seems like we actually have more space :)

When I get tired of a place I move- buy a new house, move to a new city or state- my mom says I have gypsy blood (funny thing is that I'm irish!) I think keeping life to static is unhealthy... but then again my folks have also owned 30 homes in 25 yrs themselves so I may come by my nomadic impulses naturally!!

I think when you "fall out of love" with your place you should look at all your options, not just switching out coffe tables (although that does sometimes help).

check out www.Advancedinteriordesigns.com they have chairs that look even more like emeco at $290 for a set of 2.

Link to chair:

I can't speak to the emeco repro quality, but I got a repro Corbusier LC3 sofa that I love and it was very nice quality for a repro (and an even better price!!!)

The before looked more sophisticated- with the delicate rod and the subdued color scheme... the red curtains and bedding are more harsh than warm and bc they are hung so high and with a dark heavy rod it makes the whole area look like a large dark box...

maybe some lighter pillows and or a light sheer on a double rod belore to accompany the current drapes might help break it up?
