I don't know why I'm reminded of this, but...

The first time I took my new car in for an oil change something happened and they dented the door - badly. Of course they fixed it, but I was so glad I wasn't the one responsible! It broke the spell of "perfectness" and I felt much less anxious about my new car.

I don't agree with Travelintravelintravelindottumblrdotcom about your advice. I view things in emotional dollars, not real ones. Can you afford to lose something? At a certain point, your stuff owns you, not the other way around. No one wants to be a slave to a piece of furniture or jewelry.

I DO, however, agree with him about finding better things you never dreamed of. It can happen! You just have to be open to it - and it seems like a lot of people here are!

I just started stripping the paint of some brass hinges. I'm going to go home and try this tonight!

Thanks for the great tip!

1. Backsplash: Ikea has a "backsplash" called Fastbo. Or you could look into creating your.
2. Colorful rug or kitchen mat
3. Window treatments
4. Something for the top of the cabinets! Even just baskets spray painted red could be cute.
5. Switch out the cabinet hardware.

ohmygod! ohmygod! ohmygod!

I love their stuff. I keep looking on CL and eBay to find remnants, but even those are at crazy prices. One day...

Wait, what do they do with seconds or irregular items?!?

I love a little bling!

I like the after, but they are going to have one heck of a time finding the right blue color when they have to paint over graffiti! I speak from experience, and we only have two shades of blue.

I always wonder how much paint jobs like this cost! Guesses? 10K+ easily... but 50K?

We did a picture diary study about the places people use their mobile phones... you would not believe the number of pictures we got of bathrooms with the lids up.

Isn't that JUST ASKING to drop your phone in? I'm pretty sure that's not covered under warranty!

I love AT, but the Community feeling would be even stronger if it were a more Facebook-like posting interface.

It would enable more realistic conversations and we would be able to follow them easier.

If someone asked me a question, the system would send me an email so I would know to respond. My ego isn't so big that I post a comment and then go back at the end of the day to see if someone responded to it. (but I'll be checking this one!)

Ten Things You Need to Know about Apartment Therapy

I've clearly been on AT so long I'm jaded. I'm finding it hard to get excited about products doing what they were meant to do, like in 3, 5, or 6. Some of these ideas need a little more omph...

And as a side note, those Ikea white bins get dirty super fast. I have some sad ones that need sprucing with fabric or paint or something!!! How about a post on ways to extend their life or beauty?

20 Home Tasks to Get Done During Downtime

Right now, I'm stripping the woodwork and plaster in my bedroom using a heatgun using wireless headphones and my laptop for entertainment. I watch/listen to 3 episodes (2+ hours) of whatever and then take a break. Of course, since I need to pay attention to what I'm doing, action series are out, British series are in.

It makes me wish there was a "Play Season" button on Nexflix.

If I'm not working on the walls, I do one of the following:
Mending
Evernot-ing recipes and magazine articles
Cleaning out my email inboxs
