I think you have it...paint the cabinets white, change out the hardware and light fixture and put gray/blue paint color on the walls. I think your kitchen will look amazing...it has great bones.

I'm with the posters that doesn't think it's that bad. If you really hate it, I'd cover it with contact paper...super easy and cheap and will come off easily when you move.

I don't know how much you really want to sink into it, but I'd put in a black countertop, replace the linoleum with something a bit more updated (marmoleum in a fun color?) and add some chrome knobs for the cabinets and drawers...then clean and declutter.

I love it! It looks like a real kids room, not a show place, but with style and good function. I have a five year old who would love to come play there.

Nothing. I just want my guests to come and have fun and I don't want anything at all except their company. If they insist, a bottle of wine is nice, but truly not necessary. I really think the gift giving is overdone these days.

We also got a strider one and it has taught both my kids and my neighbor how to ride a two wheeler without bumps and bruises. All three of them were able to hop on their two wheeler and go when they were ready. My youngest still prefers the balance bike and loves to ride around the neighborhood on it.

Ugh, my son made this stuff at camp this summer and stuck it to the couch and the rug...can't get it off. Be careful with it!!

I had a trundle when I was growing up, but it was for sleepovers. I wouldn't do it for a child's permanent bed. It would be a huge pain to pull out and push in every night. I'm a huge fan of the IKEA Kura bed. It's not super high, so you can reach in and tuck in your child easily. It's less of a fall risk as well since it's lower and if you get the tent, it helps to contain kids. We haven't had a hard time making up the top bunk because we can reach in and the mattress isn't super heavy. We made curtains for the lower bunk and put holiday lights in it, so both bunks are special.

My favorite thing about this house tour is that it looks lived in and not staged for photos. :) I love that there are marks above the daughter's bed and that the dishes in the kitchen aren't artfully arranged. I can see how my family could move right in.

I also love having a floor plan.

Since you are renting, I'd use decals to add some pink accents to his walls. Or if you don't mind repainting, I'd just paint one wall as an accent wall.

I bought an upholstered one with my first child and we used it to nurse, to rock him, to read stories in, etc, for years. It's completely trashed now. For us it, was worth it. I bought a used one for my younger child because the first one was still in use in my older child's room. That glider is now on it's third home....and the mom thanks me for giving it to them.

Get one that is comfortable. I spend hours (day and night) in that thing.

I would only add it if you were disabled (or have a family member who is disabled) or are moving towards an age where stairs could be a big problem. My grandmother had one in her townhouse and she used it to bring her arthritic dog up and down, and I think it was helpful as she hit her nineties.

Have you considered a woodstove insert into an existing fireplace? The nice thing is that it eliminates drafts from the chimney and doesn't take up a chunk of floorspace. The one thing we don't love about ours is that you have to plug in the blower part to blow heat in the room. That being said, it's super warm.
