Are Swiffers Really As Good As They Claim? Good Questions

I love them and own several and keep one in each closet for a quick pick up of my hard floors. I also own a Mint Evolution Robot and use the Swiffer refills on those. They pick up more than even the cloths made to go with my mint.

I recently got rid of all food storage that was plastic. I used the containers in the bathroom, craft room, and office.

I am only using glass due to the well researched safety issues showing our food should no longer be touching plastic at all.

As a landlord, Canadian's response makes me so angry. I once had a woman who let her 3 kids drink and spill grape juice all over the beige carpets in my rental house. She said it wasn't her carpet. After evicting her for another reason, she was livid that we did not give her $1000 deposit back. We lost $9000 fixing that rental back to rentable condition. If you wonder why large deposits are charged, it is because of people like Canadian.

As to the foil situation, go ahead, but if the oven is warped or ruined you will be charged for that. And yes, you are supposed to clean ovens, wash windows, etc. before leaving a rental.

Price is very good and I would agree with the white trim with silver knobs.

We have the black and white linoleum and love it. The white ones do get dingy, but a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser does the trick in less than 3 minutes.

I do not think 2 large items work together and I don't think the colors go well together. Switch out the rug and add a few red throw pillows and a red accent lamp.

Mint Robot makes it shine with only a tiny bit of water. Nothing else, ever! After 6 years mine still look brand new and we have a huge indoor dog too.

After Christmas I remove the Christmas ornaments and cover the tree in sparkling snowflakes and snow men and crystal icicles. It then stays up until MLK day.

Wow!! This is just a work of art and practical and usable at the same time. It was like magic to see the transformation. I cannot believe someone would do this to a rental and risk leaving it all behind!

I carry a heating pad and a hot water bottle with me as I tend to be cold. Simply asking for more blankets should give them a clue. If they are allergic to pets, boarding them won't help a bit as the dander remains even after the best of cleanings. If you want things perfect stay at a hotel (where you might get a noisy, smoked in room, and are never sure the bedding is really clean).

I disagree on the farmhouse sink one. Having had one once I will never go back to a smaller sink. I love, really love the size. Also dirty dishes in the bottom of it don't show in the kitchen unless you are right over the top of it. Much easier for dealing the big pans of boiling water etc.

I do think the white cupboard thing is on it's way out. People are finding that they yellow and that it makes the room feel cold.

I think stainless is the neutral that will stay in style.

I also think quartz countertops are here to stay due to ease of cleaning, safety because they are not porous, and they just look pretty and reflect light.

Laminate floors are so easy to care for and the current ones look like real wood. Get yourself a Mint floor cleaner and it is almost self-cleaning.

Eat in kitchens just make so much sense.

Oh, and btw, the carpet is exactly what I, as a landlord, put in every rental. Just try to rent a place that has blue or green carpet.

As a landlord for 20 years, I would prefer people ask these things BEFORE they sign a lease. After signing the lease, it is "as is" unless it is something I particularly want done. I have to remember that the next renter may not have your taste in things either. Cleanliness should be a given. Decor is what you look at when you are looking for a place, not after you sign the agreement. I had a renter who wanted pepto-bismal pink walls. I told her no. She did it anyway, and when I billed for the repainting (professional) at $1800 she had a fit.

Things that create a farmhouse look: black and white checked accents like a backsplash, an animal or two (rooster, cow), old vintage ice box, black bin pulls on gunstock stained cabinets, a vintage kitchen scale, old dishcloths and linens, a chalkboard framed with old wood, sunflowers in a basket, wood or laminate wood look floors, a copper farmhouse sink with vintage style faucets, a wire fruit basket, an old 4 drawer card catalog on the counter for recipes, vintage milk glass canisters, a country style valance over the window, gingham chair pads, mason jars with candles in them, japanese fishing floats, a vintage bread box or tin enamel canisters, cherries, a pretty teapot, a quilt over an over church pew for extra seating, a french style dish rack.
